RE: British Supreme Court ruling today1 Aug 2025 17:15

Lenders appear to have avoided potentially having to pay compensation to millions of drivers after the Supreme Court ruled they are not liable for hidden commission payments in car finance schemes.
The court sided with one of the claimants, a Mr Johnson, and awarded him individual compensation due to the circumstances in his case.
But on other points, the court overturned a Court of Appeal ruling that the customers had a case.
The uncertainty is not over, however, with a separate case on a different type of car finance - making up around 40% of deals - ongoing at the Financial Conduct Authority.
