I wander if "Pay dividends" is literal, as in the company sells an asset (as opposed to the company itself) and with the received income pays off shareholders with a dividend, so that the shareholders can keep the shares as opposed to sell to cash in on the capital gain.
Any clues? I know this has been brought up before, but no one has ever provided evidence of dividends being physically paid by companies like SOLG.

This whole BHP thing is obviously good, and I would imagine that we will see a surge in price starting tomorrow.
However, I am left wanting. If they have agreed to not get hostile and for the next two years BHP is not going to buy more, then how are we going to get above 45p? Another buyer?

The share price went form about 20.50 to 39.10, then retraced to about 29.80
So in my opinion you have a retracement of 39.10-29.8=9.30, a base of 29.80, and if you project a further 161.8% (of 9.30) growth from 29.80, you get 44.80.
I think we will shoot just a little lower than that though, 43ish at this stage, or 140.58% which is related to 39.10-20.50 impulse we got on the way up.
I might be wrong, but I think we may have completed a W1+W2 of the intermediate degree, which when completed would give us the W1 of the primary degree.
Difficult for me to say, given I am just a beginner in the dark arts, but that's the view I am taking at the moment.

IMHO, considering that the twelve interested majors know what we have in the ground, plus/minus, if really there was a chance to buy us at 60p or 80, they would have already done that.
It seems clear (to me) that they know that SOLG will not sell anything cheap, hence the stalling situation and price.
As the MRE gets updated and the PEA is issued, and the conditional funding is arranged, more and more critical moving parts will be in place and it will become easier for the majors to justify a larger investment.
I doubt that £2 are a real problem for BHP if they know that NM is willing to sit down and sign.

@schlemiel, this is very good find, and imho plays a specific role in the possible takeover story.
NM has been careful to push back any potential buyers who had no inclination for aggressive offers, so we have been left wandering what was the price that NM could be looking for, and as we have discussed ad nauseam on this BB, without the prospect of a deal the price has had no reason to move up significantly.
Now, Hannan coming on board and Hannan potentially being the dealmaker and SOLG's intermediary in any potentially upcoming transaction, we finally see which levels we are talking about, and I read the note as a way for NM to spell out what he is looking for, without being NM himself saying it so that the potential buyers make the first move.
The$413/Tonne CuEq mentioned in the article, which based on the first MRe translates into about 124p is a very clear proxy of what happens if the resource doubles, in other words NM is possibly looking for £4Bln in order to sell.
For us minions, at the very least seems a perfect time to stay long.

@Maybach, to be honest I don't really see anything dodgy about NM's behaviour. He does what he says and means what he says, and you have to factor in that in order to attract investors (and conditional funding for that matter), you have to disclose valuable information and make your case, which on the other side translates into tactics and dirty playing by those who are interested in a slice of SOLG.
We are always going to be exposed, as NM himself said recently, "vulnerable". The recent price movement shows that we are indeed vulnerable, but that does not make SOLG's process or NM's effort to move SOLG forward any less valuable.
So I think your comment mis-reads the situation and mis-judges the management.

Well if one is a buyer and believes that the share price will shoot up as Liberum suggests, at least they are offering at interesting prices. I never thought the idea crossed my mind, but I might actually buy some more...

I am not really jealous, I am just curious about his posts; it's very unusual that a very large investor decides to spend time on a bulletin board.

@Paddy, this is obviously a highly volatile share and playing here requires some good nerves, however should we start to see a systematic re-rate towards those levels, it would certainly be less a torture than to see the price dropping to 0.5.
