The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
A) I would be very pleased with the 70p median if we can get it.
B) I think one of the key variables in selling something is the spin-off of the subsidiaries, which has been in the making for a long time and is dear to NM if not the rest of the shareholders.
C) Block caving and country risk probably the biggest hurdles for a prospective buyer.
D) SOLG community and environmental foundation work a critical success factor in a sale.
GLA all, it's been a good week for a change!
I am right for most of the day when I say it's not 11:25....
At the risk of being too cynical, while I like Rupert's pragmatism and sense of roadmap, this roadmap seems quite stretched in time when it comes to us investors hoping to monetize. Even with no delays in 2023, before we can see a proper re-rating we need to look beyond this year and as we have seen, dilution has been keeping the price down, not good for us longer term investors.
So I ask myself if it's worth waiting 6-12 month before parking more money here, as nothing of note affecting the price is likely to happen in the short term.
Jut thinking out loud, GLA.
I am relieved you have no time to help me, I wander how I managed all these years.
Another one for the bin then...
Monte, like you I hope, but I refrain from making grand statements or fantasizing about scenarios. I admit I don't know and I am at peace with the fact I am just a passenger here.
Stockready, are you 12 yrars old? We run around like headless chickens, we don't know what is happening here? Really now?
And tell us, in such clarity and enlightmeny you are bringing to us, how much have you invested in time and money, just to compare notes properly?
You just don't know that, just like the rest of us.
In 2017 we thought we could sell shortly if only NM were more forthcoming and instead he started to push for unachievable prices and alienated the s*** out of everyone.
Since then we have dreamed of having buyers out of the door ready to pull the trigger and instead the entire exploration a nd small mining sector has been crucified, only the majors have flourished and preferred to pay rich dividends instead of being pushed into another spending spree.
We may just not see any strong buying interest here any time soon, not what I hope of course.
It does not mean that if one bidder shows up others might finally wake up, but again there is more aspiration on our side than any serious consideration you or anyone else can make so casually.
The only certainty here is that there are many shareholders all willing to sell (us PIs, the Instis, the Mathers the Irwins, the CGP gang). The existence of a buyer at the negotiating table or more all ready to fight for SOLG is just speculation.
I want to make money out of this (finally!) but you guys tend to be out of control.
If I was a buyer, knowing how much selling pressure there is here, I would sit for another year or two until any price would look like a good price. And in this respect it does not help at all that the company seems to be dismantled and readied for a sale, without an alternative plan to get to DFS and whatever follows.
Management put us in a corner with just one possible positive outcome, dependent on a theoretical buyer not taking advantage of our desperation to sell.
Great, after 9 years of supporting the company with a lot of hard earned money. Then you wander why some end up pumping and dumping...
mentalmax, I am not the Blackpool type (more the Amalfi Coast type), and I don't despair if I miss out on an ECR sudden raise...
I am not a trader, I bought and still hold some ECRs for the long term but now that looks less and less a possibility in the my book so I offloaded part of my holding. AS I stated earlier I might reload at a lower price point and/or if the news are forthcoming
If I miscalculated this partial exit, it's my bad, one cannot win them all, and I wish you all to make a fortune.
TS did you send me a private msg?
Definitely not the narrative I was looking for from the company, and once again stories after stories that don't amount to a strategy I am happy to invest in.
Having said that, since I will have some shares at a higher average, if it comes down more to justify a punt t a different risk/reward point, maaaaybe I will get back in and average down.
GLA, we deserve a better outcome here.
Really now, what is the only time one can tell for sure? It was me!
I know who sold, 4m of them.
I know who
...and another one goes to the bin...what have we done to attract these people?
Funny that.....
What are the key risks that are specific to the securities?
The key risks specific to the securities are as follows:
1. Certain significant shareholders of the Company may be able to exercise material influence over the Company’s business and/or their interests may differ from those of other Shareholders;
Good for you and I hope your average is good, but still trailing some here.....
@miketrix, you are either a very cheerful chap, or you have invested little money here.
Some of us are at 10 in the stress/worry/anger/disappointment areas.
Entertained we are certainly not.
Personally, I think we have just been taken for a ride, big and small PIs. As it stands, any narrative we choose to believe is largely subjective and sadly we can just hope that our interest is aligned with the other parties selling rather than those possibly trying to buy us cheap. End of.
