*I know little about this process. Are we hypothetically considering an ‘acquisition’ of a business?
* Various reasons are listed as to why a company might want to acquire another company? The most relevant, as regards Synairgen would be:
“Sometimes it can be more cost-efficient for a company to purchase another company that already has implemented a new technology successfully than to spend the time and money to develop the new technology itself.”
IMHO, Synairgen would be a better fit in the portfolio of a large pharmaceutical company, rather than being acquired by TFG Asset Management UK LLP?
The characteristics of the acquisition process may be summarised thus:
a)An acquisition is a business combination that occurs when one company buys most or all of another company's shares.
b)If a firm buys more than 50% of a target company's shares, it effectively gains control of that company.
c)An acquisition is often friendly, while a takeover can be hostile; a merger creates a brand new entity from two separate companies.
d)Acquisitions are often carried out with the help of an investment bank, as they are complex arrangements with legal and tax ramifications.
e)Acquisitions are closely related to mergers and takeovers.
* Synairgen have updated the analysis of all their existing trial data in recent months. The promising outcomes increase the likelihood of a Platform Trial. ( I have discounted Activ-2 P2 results. Should they finally emerge, they will be a valuable addition to the existing data ).
* The PT is essential. The company cannot progress without one. Should Synairgen be successful in negotiating a P3 Platform trial, this will be viewed favourably by the market. The stock price should increase as a result.
* Additionally, taking into account SNG001’s potential as an effective treatment for the symptoms induced by multiple viruses (LC suppression is a major consideration here), the viability of an acquisition then comes to the fore.
Should the above possible scenario emerge, the acquisition price will be considerably higher than the highest price in the preceding 12 months come next February?
As previously stated on many occasions, I have no idea as to what may happen in the coming months? However, there is no good reason to be unduly pessimistic at this stage.
