Why should Evraz be suspended?

This ain't going near £3 for some time, never mind a few days.
I think some people are getting carried away with the situation. Yes, there's a possibility that EVR shares will suddenly take off, but it's a small possibility in my view. Patience and endurance are the order of the day with a wild-west stock market such as we have at the moment with certain shares. Watch the action unfold, let the market get their pound of flesh and then we'll see where we are. There is STILL a high risk with EVR until the war is over and logic, rather than sentiment, drives the market. We are a long way from anything remotely resembling safety. LTH are sitting on some fairly nasty losses and need to see the SP get stabilised after March 9th. We need to see the ED pass without issue. Once that's been and gone and the divi is paid out then normal service might be resumed. Provided that the shocking war is over.

It depends on confidence and there doesn't seem to be much of that around at the moment. Today's rise - in my humble opinion - is speculation, shares are being bought for the possible rapid increase, that and the divi.
Remember that this share has decreased in value by almost 80% in a few days. It has a very, very long way to go before real confidence returns.
If, and it's a fairly big if, there's an RNS reducing or cancelling the divi, it's goodnight Vienna.

There is actually no reason for him to be sanctioned, apart from the fact that he is a Russian.
Being a billionaire with big houses, big boats and big bank accounts is not a reason to sanction someone. There is a very unpleasant whiff of hysteria surrounding Abramovich which is seriously impacting the Evraz SP. I expect there are people loving every minute of the roller coaster, trying to make as much money as they can whilst the blood is flowing.

larry6 - Of course the popular idea is that all Russian billionaires are controlled by Putin, and some are close to him for sure. Abramovich has been clever enough to keep Putin sweet when it matters but he is very far from being controlled by him. I said it before - Abramovich is no fool and he is nobody's stooge. He learnt how to survive back in the 90s and he will survive this. That's not to say he's an angel or a very good man, he isn't but he has made his money because he knows what's what. He will never return to live in Russia while Putin is in charge.
