APs Share of the Pie.7 Dec 2018 12:04
To begin, and to make crystal clear my stance, I have absolute faith in Vast, and APs ability to drive the price northwards over the next 3-5yrs and beyond.
However, I'm incredibly conflicted in my view regarding APs proposal for the creation of options. On the one hand, I believe that a CEO who can move mountains is worth his weight in gold, and should be rewarding accordingly.
On the other hand, I believe we have a duty to ourselves, and each other, to be mindful as to how high we allow that reward to climb. Set the limit too high and investors risk defeating the very purpose of investing, which is to make money, rather than hand it away.
There is the arguement that he effectively gave us the majority share of the assets, this is true.
When AP took the role, a salary was agreed, and so was consideration for what he bought along....
10% of BP.
2.5% of Blueberry.
10% of Zagra Assets
10% of any other Remin SA asset Vast acquires.
To be fair, AP is paid a salary for his appointment on the board. On top of this AP is given his agreed share of assets mentioned above. I have no issue with any of the agreements as they stand....it's what was agreed by both parties to the contract.
Regardless of handcuffs, options enable AP, on a sharply moving SP, to potentially increase the value of what his share of the assets would have otherwise have been worth, quite considerably, and irrespective of any potential resource increases.
He says he has saved Vast millions, which is true, but at the same time, Vast has also saved him equally. I am also confident that had AP just gone to a major instead, options wouldn't even be on the table....A small company like Vast allows AP to put those options on the table. But most importantly, as AP said in the Q&A, shareholders do not have to allow it!
I think the board needs to rethink the proposal. I also think we all need to step up and have our say too.
To put into perspective what the values of the assets are, and therefore the reward AP currently receives, ask yourself these questions....
Using any data available, what is the resource size of Baita Plai?
What is the cash value of that resource?
What is 10% of that cash value, less costs?
Then repeat the same process for other resources like Blueberry, Zagra, possibly the 5 biggest Copper mine on the planet.....Is that not enough?
Nonetheless, if he manages to move mountains, I would certainly argue that he should be rewarded, but just not with options.
That's just my thoughts on this particular matter anyway. Right, I'm off out for a few hours, it'll be just my luck some news drops and I miss it! ;)
