How on earth do we think we can run so many projects for around £300k p.a? No wonder progress is slow. We need to focus on oneor two imv and nail them before moving onto the others.I remain hopeful.

Had the bank of E [ excuses] used half point interest rises from the start inflation would have been nipped in the bud but now it has taken hold we will need higher rates held for longer - Bailey should be sacked. In addition if we had controlled immigration better we would have less people chasing goods in the shops etc and demand would be lower ditto inflation and the government are accountable for that. I could go on...

Gazz, in a word no. Capital is 'loaned' to compnies to enable them to operate and generate a return on that capital. Take the returns away , the capital dries up and the business folds - no mortages for anyone then.

LTI, I agree divi alone does not determine share prices but they are a factor in the total returns and hence share prices . It is all about where to allocate funds and there is stronger competition for equities just now than there was last year.

Parkez, I agree with what you say about the rich and indeed the poor but there will be no reversal this year. I can see base rate and inflation around 6% at year end.

I don't think the defaults etc caused by a recession is the biggest factor in the decline in SP here or indeed across most UK stocks it is the competition for investment . By that I mean when building sociteies and government bonds pay north of 4% with no risk, divi income from shares needs to be north of 7, hence share prices are falling , unfortunately.

Parkez, if you had more money you might consider buying a second property in Chelsea or Cornwall. You might buy more expensive food and not worry about waste. That is how people behave and therefore less money in circulation will reduce demand for almost everything including 'essentials'.

Parkez, you reduce demand for food and housing by restricting the money people have to spend. simple.

Here's the problem in the UK too much demand [ i.e people and money circulating] and not enough supply to feed , house and service our rapidly growing population and the consequence is inflation. To kill off inflation [rather than the population] we need to increase supply which is constrained [ limited land and housing etc] or reduce demand by making everyone poorer either through taxation [ Hunt is trying] or higher borrrowing costs leading to a recession. There is no feasible alternative if inflation is to hit 2% and we need to here that honestly stated imv.

Tata will take profits in good times and taxpayer cash in hard times - smart people !

Had a top up on lloy this am because the rising interest rates will cause profits to rise and that will soon be reflected in sp - I hope.

Solid results and sp should rise imv today.

Might move a little higher today - results not too bad and futur looks better.
