Big shock to me was to learn of the booming spanish economy - inflation now 1.9% and what is supporting it? Cheap energy - we had that until recently but all political parties now want to impoverish the nation. Boats will soon be smuggling people into France at this rate!

We are now playing catch up with interest rates and money supply as applied post 2008. Imv house prices will fall 30 plus % because affordability is so much worse when rates are normalised. Not a matter of 'if' but 'when ' that occurs - most likely over next 2 years as that is the 'fix' period most people have signed up to on mortgages.

I am still holding here as I think the sp is allowing for that already.

On the session I heard on Bloomberg he came across as not as competent or decisive as the other bank chiefs and therein lies our problem - too little too late and we have the highes [ RPI is 11%] inflation by far we nedd 6 % plus now not in the autumn - we will need 7% then if he does not respond more quickly!

i have worked at tw as a contractor and have witnessed first hand the bureaucracy which is stiffling and the poor decision making. i also encountered some excellent people - and they have a core talent imv. what is not being reported in msm however is the 10% growth in population that we have witnessed in uk in last few years that has not been matched by similar growth in infrastructure e.g sewage treatment works capacity. so , in an effort to secure economic growth successive uk governments have left the uk citizens up **** creek without a paddle!

uk gets worse daily imv.

Todays announcement sounds positive - we have found something previously overlooked !

Proable today as results and outlook relatively good , following years of bad news!

We can make money with spin offs but not so easy with oil and gas!

Comparing to next , JD is clearly undervalued by the market , higher turnover and profits plus it is a global company with decent expansion plans. At some point it will get re rated accordingly .

Monty, I think the fact that MM owns the properties is a positive in that he will likely be renting them to the group at above market rates and a purchaser of the group would see profit upside by reducing the rent paid through re negotiation of those rents.

Profit forecast to grow to over £1bn confirmed following first 5 months of year is excellent news. Sales growth slowing to just [?] 8% might be the fly in the ointment but most retailers would die for that growth. Frankly sp sould be over £2 with this performance given the expansion continues. We shall see what the market thinks shortly.

Why is'nt the media asking Labour why they cannot promote both the renewable sector and Oil and Gas like Biden is? We are being let down by our leftie msm imv.

Results and prospects look good to me despite the challenging UK market. Expecting a small uplift in sp .

Great post LWLH, I would add to your points that cheap energy and more importantly north sea oil was oue saviour from the 1980s onwards. We have little else beyond our interllectual capacity and an entitled society , not many of whom have the desire and/or the capacity for hard work. We cannot enjoy a first world living standard with what we now have left as a country and as yet more land is sacrificed to solar farms , housing and bird habitats we will find food becomeing more and more expensive. Consider our managed decline over the last 70 years and you can see what is to come - infortunately.
