Hi, As a long term shareholder I should like to know why the company has not engaged with the bidder, please explain.I am of the view that engagement could have resulted in an offer that was insufficient but how would shareholders or indeed the BOD ever know. Unless I get a satisfactory answer I shall be voting against re-election of all current directors at the next opportunity, as they are supposed to be working in my interests and not their own.
I am missing adrian, I take a look in here , when bored to read the battle of words between those who remain optimistic, those who are realistic and Adrian.
Yam, not a chance of a takeover because there is an investor that holds a huge stake , i think a family trust or similar and have held since before flotation. They know the true value and are playing a long term game.
Meanwhile the lti[ share awards have targets that are laughably easy given this year the eps will likely rise 10% alone. They are lucky people.
If I were a major shareholder here I would ring the ceo and tell him to engage meaningfully with Macquarie and let me know what the offer subsequently is. If he did not comply with that I would requisition an EGM for his removal because frankly I think the failure to engage is a sign he is interested only in saving his job!
RE: When will the market wake up and rerate this Co24 Oct 2023 09:24
Alessandro , you may be right BUT a significant part of the growth will come from inflation - we shall see. Meanwhile I have just read that PUMA have beaten their forecasts and their shares have risen 4.5% , which I believe is the catalyst for us today.
There will be a few who have seen better opportunities arise elsewhere in the last week or so but frankly it is mostly the impatient who are selling. Just wait for the next RNS they will all be back - ask arnie.
The huge rise yesterday now looks suspicious to me , still with todays fall at least the mms can buy back at lower cost- how convenient and what great foresight,,,,,
I think the word pause has allowed some fear to creep in. One thing is for sure newmont will absolutely want to maximise the value here whatever they plan to do with the asset.
RE: Friday 13th October... place your bets please!24 Oct 2023 07:25
Bill Ackman is talking his own book imv. Inflation driven by oil prices will persist worldwide for some time yet and interest rates will be set according to the thoughts of the fed participants which presumably he cannot read into the future.
New, I think this is good news as it incentivises performance and also suggests that the 34p will be overtaken in due course , simply because they need to believe that the option is worth having or why bother?
RE: Class action law suit - 1 of 223 Oct 2023 07:52
I a;ways wonder the point of these, is it just to enrich lawyers? Even if the lawsuit is successful and an award or say £400m was made, the value of the company would fall by £400m [ plus legal fees] and the institutions would be net worse off , unless of course they have since sold out. I have held since before these scandals so it is certaily a nilsum game for me even if a class action open to pi's were undertaken.
