So after all, is the gas pipeline in Uganda the ultimate prize Mr Ambrose envisages ? First the drilling and confirmation Tanzania has more gas than it knows what to do with ! By the way, I'm sticking my neck out and saying we get the FO before the election.

Nobody has yet explained to me what it is that attracts Zubair to invest $40m and more in Tanzania. Consider there could be three gas providers and crucially a large junk of the year where Hydro takes over. Zubairs revenue stream will be erratic to say the least. Apparently government still owe the Chinese about $1bn for the gas pipeline which they paying off with the gas throughput. I can't imagine much gas going through the pipeline right now, and Mr M. is sitting on vast untapped reserves which he needs to capitalize. I imagine domestic and business will only account for a fraction, so what is the hidden prize Zubair are willing to spend a small fortune for ?

I have been asking myself why would Zubair be prepared to invest $40m or more in Tanzanian gas exploration. With a population of about 56m it seems on the face of it they would need much more gas but can't imagine much growth without widespread dwelling modernisation. To add to that there is Hydro which although apparently running good production this year, needs gas in case of future dry times. A substantial plus we miss in the call for more gas is the fact that the $1bn pipeline needs to be paid for which is I'm told by way of a tariff on the throughput of gas used. A balancing act for government as little gas consumption and the pressure's on them to pay by way of hard cash. Maybe there are other explanations I'm missing and welcome your thoughts as to the country's gas needs that justify a $40m investment.

Another overlooked reason why less gas is required domestically is governments much vaunted Hydro programme. It would be interesting to know just how much energy it supplied to the country's needs in the last twelve months.

Surely obvious to everyone there's more than enough gas for Tanzania's domestic needs but if Chickumbi comes through with substantial reserves, LPG looms big, but then you would need plenty of dosh I guess. Oh, why is it I keep forgetting our friends and future partners, the Omani's !?!

Well, now it's clear. The agreement stated the minister shall give approval once all criteria are met. Rojo says the Tanzanian government will walk away. Still sense Rojo is honourable and if approval arrives, it will be he that will walk away.

I think things are looking promising. Robert Ambrose our new CEO is having a tree shake, big time. The recent Phoenix report very much exhonorated Brian Hall's twenty odd years in office. There is no doubt at all the acreage he acquired during his time in office is what makes Aminex plc a big prize for the Omani's, or any other interested parties come to that. Ambrose is putting right the wrongs of those various Directors options. When asked that question in his first interview what does it all mean for Aminex, the answer that came back straight away - Huge !

How can Chris answer that one Rojo ? If you read the latest RNS it's clear Robert Ambrose is getting a grip by 'persuading' fellow Directors to drop their outrageous claims of shares and income - no easy job. He's telling them a bigger prize awaits. Fair enough, some like Dunder are saying they will reverse things at the AGM. Just 2 weeks to see if he is right. Years ago a bloke by the name of Hogey Carmichael used to sing a little ditty, gotta accentuate the positive, eliminate the negative. Try it out and read through that RNS again and think that possibly we've now got a great CEO in charge.
