I've met him as well.. He's very straight, no nonsense gentleman... After he joined TLY, he wasted no time in reshuffling and getting rid of some of the old directors... His strategy of paying a small cash upfront and remaining depending on performance is great... Out of the �17m raised a few months ago, he's using around �6.5m cash now, so still leaves a huge chunk to buy another acquisition...my fear was that they might use a huge chunk of the cash to buy Vocare, therefore another placing would be needed now.... I've huge respect for him...

Graham, Bob has solid II respect, going back years.. They backed him when he bought Mears plc for �50k 20yrs ago and turned it into a �500m company by his 'adding and building' acquisition strategy... TLY BoD are doing similar... He spends a lot of time with charity work as well...

as mentioned, Vocare's latest financials are included... They do mention recent trading and expenditure due to quality improvement initiatives... I expect these were used as part of DD and therefore, part of the final agreed price... don't forget when TLY raised cash earlier this year, they mentioned a large acquisition. As it is, they have only used �6.5m cash, so maybe the price was reduced due to the quality improvements required... They report trading in rare collectibles is robust... The financials are in dire straits but the outlook is not too bad... the crunch time is next May, with the banking facilities... If they can get past that then I think they can do well on their own... However, I still think offers will be made and the BoD will probably say that they are the best option for the company, even though the company could well by itself...

Yep not long. It doesn't take much to form a group to launch a bid, although a bit late in the day. If there are enough collectors/dealers interested and don't want SG to be sold cheaply then why not?

They only have 10 days to announce the results... I would expect some news regarding any takeover at the same time... I'd like to see around 20p as a takeover....

I agree, good post.. I think yesterday's buys were probably as a result of Stampex... Trading was brisk... Without expecting a reply I asked 1 of the SG staff about how trading was and what's happening with the takeover....lol The gentleman replied that trading was good and that they are not up for sale. lol He's words: "someone bought 1m shares and so we had to announce that we were up for sale"... I wasn't going to question his logic as he clearly didn't know what was happening, so I simply said thanks and left it at that.... 1m shares would be £100k, .. I bought the £5 Telegraph years ago... it is rarer than the Postage one but not worth as much...

I went to Stampex on Sat.. trading was brisk.. There was a stall with lots of £5 Orange stamps... I've got a Telegraph not Postage £5 stamp...

I also agree with the general comments re SG pricing... I have a spreadsheet, where I enter the SG price and sep col for %ofSG, which then gives me a separate realistic value col. I use Ebay to check for realistic selling prices... It's difficult to place exact values on stamps - they are only worth as much as someone is willing to pay at a certain time... Anyone remember the 1970 10p Cerise... some 25-30yrs ago, I bought several costing several pounds each, now around £1...

I hope the current cash covers the upfront payment and the remaining is paid, deferred subject to performance... Hopefully, it won't involve too much dilution... Hoping to hear something soon, although the rns said they are under 'exclusivity agreement' until 30th Sept...

If there was no interest in the company, wouldn't they have said so by now and announced the results?

I'm hoping results and any takeover news will be announced this week... They said end of summer for takeover offers... There's just over a month before they must announce their fy results, so still plenty of time...

Good posts/discussion this week... Pearls, i agree, everyone is waiting for news... They said they will look at any offers throughout summer, so I'm not expecting any news until next week.. I, for one, sold some to use elsewhere and will be buying those back into SGI next week... still have a base holding, just in case news is out early...

Pearls, Last year, they published their results on 3rd Oct.. Maybe that's where the confusion comes from... Their fy end is 31st March, the sp would be suspended if they don't announce within 6 months of that... I would be concerned if it was 3rd Oct. Agree, the stock is in play but the sp is not reflecting it...

Pearls, isn't yrend, 31st March? So they need to announce their results within 6 months of year end or shares get suspended... They announced late last year, due to the restructuring...

I was thinking a lot higher than that.. Maybe I need to rethink it's worth??. £600 is more like a gu price...
