112233,
why is it bad press for just Vocare? NHS111 staff, regardless of which company controls the centre, don't make up the questions, do they? Whether an ambulance is required depends on the answers...
The same goes for 999 operators, doesn't it?
What do you think of the 30,000 unnecessary 999 calls, just for Welsh 999, costing millions. Should the 999 service be scrapped?
Only 3 of those required hospital treatment....
Don't you think if they contacted NHS111 or attended a walk in centre, valuable 999 resources could be used for real emergencies????
.
Patient's MINDSET needs to change, having a toothache doesn't require an ambulance... rooting out (pun intended) these time and money wasters by changing patient's mindset is the way forward....
Ambulance service received 30,000 'unnecessary' calls last year for minor illnesses like toothache, sore throats, coughs and colds
"Deputy Health Minister Vaughan Gething said unnecessary 999 calls to the Welsh Ambulance Service are diverting resources away from the most life-threatening incidents"
"In the past 12 months, more than 31,000 non-urgent calls were made for an emergency ambulance, with only three of these resulting in a patient being admitted for hospital treatment. Nearly half of these calls did not require an emergency ambulance at all."
