When the revised budget is given after the current prcurements are completed will the budget be higher or lower than the current $2.9bn. I anticipate it will be lower as the contracts will be for fixed amounts. Also if the completion is bought forward there should be savings on pay. What does everybody else think.

Rambo23 - I do not think there is much to read into this apart from the fact that nonce they have finished all the contract procurements they will be revising the figures accordingly. The total CAPEX budget may go up or down. Also a proportion of it might be met from commercial production of POLY4 reducing the level of debt.

I normally say you should not rely on the SP price and whether it is going up or down until about 10am. Today I think we should wait utntil about 11.30 so that we can see the reaction to the conference call.

sxx4me - With all due respect the operative word in my statement was solely. Of course CF should be judged on finance but as he is not the finance director it should not be the only yardstick to judge him on. The increase in the number of safety incidents is of equal importance. It is my argument that he should be judged on the overrall sucess of the project.

It makes good reading and will hopefully give comfort to the markets. My only concern is that the safety indicator has gone up from 2.4 in the last quarterly update to 4.4 in this update. This needs to be kept under close watch. On the stage 2 financing I note that we have had commitment letters in with some more due in soon which is broadly in line with the stated timetable.

sxx4me - I note that you are the only one I can recall that has ever suggested that CF should go in any set of circumstances. With respect to you I think you are being less than objective and not viewing the progress as a whole. I also note that you have not given me the names of two other people who could have obtained sales agreements so far in advance of production. I would therefore argue that the delivering of stage 2 finance on a particular basis should be the sole criteria for deciding anybody's fate.

sxx4me - With the greatest of repsect to you I disagree with your assessment on CF. He does not have anything to prove. You are looking at only one aspect the financing. If you look at progress on the project as a whole then you will see that he is doing a good job. Can you please name me two other people who have been able to sell the quantity of product he has so far in advance of production. My current intention is too remain invsted in here for at least the next 15 years so any funding issues around stage 2 will be a minor inconvenience. I think the same view is taken by those who are here for the long haul like me.

I find it interesting that he was a Treasury Minister until the last reshuffle.

taufour - I would pesume that the missing note would explain what is meant by full production. I would take it to be 20MTPA. However it could equally mean 10MTPA.

Avocet123 -I suspect that 08.41 post was meant as ajoke but I think you may actually be right. Today is the last day of June and if commiment letters are due this month then it makes sense to wait until close of play today to see if there are any late commitment letters that come in by post or email.
