Chrisatrdg ref 15.30 post see my 08.00 post this morning. The only new information in this story is that the ownership clarified. This means that subject to the issue about the fact that the Eduard Toll was in port before the ban was imposed it is within the scope of the ban.

I note that the SP is up 10% on the day. I do not like unexplained jumps in the share price. We have the adjournment debate on Thursday so I am not sure if the markets are expecting an announcement in advance of the debate. There are some long delayed procurement decisions. The ones I know about are

The dry docking tender for the Queen Elizabeth Class of carriers - The value of the contract is not high £30m for a 10 year contract. But the reputational value of the contract is greater. Also HARL's assets are high enough so as not to raise any issues. Also H&W (Belfast) can actually take a ship of that size as evidenced by the docking of the Eduard Toll.

The National Flagship - This is a £200-250m contract it now looks like this will be delayed by some months.

The FSS Tender This is another significant tender a decision is not expected until later this year but Team Resolute seem to be gearing up for this contract.

As the Eduard Toll was already in Belfast I do not think it would be covered for a few reasons. Firstly, the quote above says 'From this point onwards' This would seem to preclude and vessel already in the UK. Secondly, you have the point made by oldtramp in his 17.44 post yesterday it is not clear that the Eduard Toll is within scope as it appears to be American owned. The question is whether it is chartered by a Russian company. Finally the principle that a law is not presume to have retrospective effect unless it is clearly stated that it does.

When normally loyal shareholders like him start making comments like that then you need to take note as you have problems. Secondly, I do not think that either me or Chris would disagree with you about the strength of Team Resolute. That is not the issue. Last week we had a market wide sell off due to geo political concerns. However and this was I believe Chris' point when the rest of the sector had a strong recovery yesterday HARL did not. The question is why was this. I think it was partially a lack of news which meant that the share did not appear on the horizon of investors.

RichardMcV ref 16.17 post I have just checked and it is due to leave on Friday and I doubt that the necessary legislation will be in place before then so HARL should be able to finish the work on it before it becomes an issue. In any event I cannot see how such a ban can be applied retrospectively to a vessel already in port.

Just seen this https://www.navylookout.com/royal-navys-ocean-survey-vessel-hms-scott-extended-in-service/ If a new vessel is to be built this would require a short procurement or direct award. One would think that Rosyth would not have the capacity. This begs the question as to whether HARL would be in the running.

Chrisatrdg ref 08.06 post I was aware that IslandMagee Energy is a subsidiary of HARL but I do not recall anything being said about this Joint Venture even on social media. I would observe that when I replied to JW's update post on LinkedIn it was deleted.

oldtramp ref 07.34 post thanks for this an interesting read. I am trying to work out if this is in addition to or part of the current IslandMagee Gas Storage Project. We will let slide the silence from HARL on this they have not even provided a quote for this article.

andymck ref 12.53 post thanks for this on the carrier drydocking contract I have no news but the official business for Monday in the Commons is so light that we could have a statement.

Good find on the Lighthouse Board I can confirm that the Pharos is currently docked and will be entering the drydock tomorrow and is currently berthed in the Ship Repair Quay. It is currently scheduled to leave on Monday afternoon.

I wonder where Mr Jones gets his information from. If what he says is right then that is one headache out of the way. It does beg the question why we have not heard from HARL about this.

I would be very surprised if we do not see a lot of activity in oil stocks. Traders looking for a quick profit are likely to be piling into oil and gas stocks betting they will be going up. The current price for Brent Crude that I can find is $100 a barrel. So Q1 2022 is starting to look like revenues will be up on last year. Does anyone know when Q4 2021 results are out?

Lottie123 ref 07.56 post Like you I have been monitoring the number of ships going in and out of Belfast so I am inclined to think despite the slow start in January that costs at Belfast are being covered by work coming in. I have a fair degree of confidence that breakeven was achieved in December. That said for some reason this has not been confirmed by HARL. This has allowed doubt to creep in as if they had made breakeven they would have said. Pressure needs to be put on the company to give an update as one is beyond due.

oldtramp ref 19.12 post As I suffer from mild hypertension I have filtered BlairPeach to keep my blood pressure under control so did not read his post. I assume that he was saying that nobody would be interested in the yards. With all the fabrication work that would be needed and the amount of fabrication space HARL has that does not make sense.
