On further reflection on this my only question is why did they not do this 6- 12 months ago. Doing that they would have built up creditability as a shipbuilder as there was a significant since they last built a ship.

AlbertoZ ref 19.27 post very interesting and with the new domestic credit facility it would mean that financing should not be an issue. Clearly this is an attempt to get back into shipbuilding to make winning contracts easier. Will you be attending?

According to the Belfast Harbour website after 9pm tomorrow the only vessel that will be berthed in Belfast would be the Pharos. Something might suddenly appear on the website tomorrow.

oldtramp ref 11.10 post the accounts are for the period ending December 2020 so can you pleaseexpand on the updates you are referring to or give a page number.

Avyererdowt ref 08.48 post with the number of vessels that need to be delivered if they only rely on BAB and BAe it would be impossible for the vessels to be built in time so they will have to use other yards. It would be politically difficult for work to go overseas if there are UK yards that are not at full capacity and can do the work. MoD may need to make a sizeable deposit on any contract with HARL to fund the necessary investments needed.

One interesting observation I found in this very interesting article is 'The complexity of the vessels will vary considerably but ships of this size will need large facilities and a skilled workforce. Investment to enhance the shipyards at Belfast, Birkenhead or at other sites is perfectly possible but it is far more difficult to rapidly build up naval architecture, marine engineering and shipbuilding expertise.' The reference to Belfast cannot be lost on anyone. The National Shipbuilding Office has visited Belfast but nothing appears to have come out of this visit yet.

I note that there was a large trade at about 11am as this was about the same time that the share price dropped does anyone think that it could be a sell? I do not have level 2 so cannot see more detailed information.

The regulations referred to in 2 might bring in repair work in for HARL to bring vessels upto standard.

Squeezeit ref 10.49 post it depends on what the purpose of the presentation was. If it was to showcase the financials and the fact that the company was profitable in 2021 then it succeeded. If it was to persuade people to invest or invest further then I would be inclined to agree with you I did not hear anything to convince me to invest further. But then again I did not hear anything to persuade me to sell.

At this morning's presentation the company refused to give any kind of guidance. Going forward this might affect the share price. In the absence of guidance there is no way of working out if trading is inline with expectation or has slipped or is ahead of expectation. If it is ahead of expectation then this might cause the share price to go up. Essentially I think this is why there has been a muted response to the results. As there has been no guidance the market has relied on recent oil prices to calculate what it expected the results to show and they were found lacking. That is my reading as the financials were not bad.

I have just seen this https://bidstats.uk/tenders/2022/W11/770834776 HARL does have experience of working on such a vessel. Also it does have an ongoing relationship with the buyer. There is also the political dimension especially after the Scottish Government owned Calmac Ferries gave a contract overseas.

Bubble2021 ref 13.00 post we are overdue information on the nee national flagship which due to the new committee having to approve the design before we can get around to appointing a builder will now probably be in the autumn. In addition we are also waiting news on the 10 year dry dock contract for the Queen Elizabeth Class of carriers. The FSS decision is a Q3 announcement unless it also slips.

Bubble2021 ref 08.38 post thanks for that so that is two emergency repair jobs in at Belfast. As can be seen from this story from N.I ferry site https://www.niferry.co.uk/damaged-irish-ferries-ship-undergoes-repairs-in-belfast/ the visit from W.B.Yeats is a non routine visit. The W.B. Yeats is currently scheduled to leave tomorrow. If this story is correct then the stay may be extended to complete the job rather than do a temporary fix.
