I got some cash from a job today and don't know if I should get back to saving my cash or buy some more BP, I don't need anything so the money will be just part of my pocket money account and if I buy shares it will only drop my average down by a small percentage of a pence.

Be patient, I sold my NEX shares at 167p to buy into BP then two days later NEX rose to 230p, If you really feel the money will make more in another share sell on but at such a low price a 10p rise will make a significant difference if buying into another company.

jaythejoiner, that's why big house builders like self employed labour as when work slows they have no financial outlaw as you only get paid for what you do.

trades people talk, and obviously it would be direct labour. limiting earning potential can only mean they want a slower steady work rate?

I use Halifax, easy to setup just add a bank account and transfer money from it into your share account and your ready to buy.
remember if your buying Taylor Wimpey they will probably drop more after xmas if they didn't get all their planned handovers, if your working on site your in a perfect situation to ask the area manager how they are getting on.

I have been told they are limiting trades men wages to £750 max? which obviously means a slower turn over.

Finally started to see profit in this share today, could of averaged down when share price was really low but I decided I would rather put my money in Taylor Wimpey,

Paddyboy1, thats my plan as this and Shell both pay about the same time in December. I also have added benefit of a Persimmon dividend about the same time and hopefully an Aviva one, Dividends are the only money I'm putting in shares for the current time.

With BP’s slow rise it is now my worst performing share. It’s been near this price for two weeks now.

What difference would lockdown make to the housing company as they remain open, 105p was a topping up point.

I missed that bottom as well as at the minute it's who do you put your money in as your spoilt for choice. I missed Browns at 12p and william hill at 65p as I was too busy putting in other stocks I know will double and never go under.

I am still tempted with Card even at this price as its never been below 100 in it's trading years. But then I think BP will be a cracking investment and still pay a dividend so I end up missing all the good little earners.

I sold my NEX shares for 167 a week ago to buy BP at 199 then NEX rises and stays at 229 and BP drops and steadies at 236. I was in for 111 for NEX . Story of my life with shares.

Persimmon will drop back down to £22 but it will be next year sometime. I'm in for £13 .80 but I managed to sell my shares at £31 this year and bought in again. I also slipped up as I sold some more again a couple of months ago at £27 to buy more RDS at £10.70 only to watch them crash to 860. I'm no wolf of wall street.

paddyboy, I'm pretty sure at worst in five years time all big oil will be back to proper dividends I can happily sit on these for that. I also favour Persimmon and I can guarantee their dividends will be back to normal from march next year.

paddyboy. I have no intention of selling all my BP shares in ten years never mind four months. For me now it's at the point where I want to increase my share holdings in all my stocks with dividends only, well unless there is another crash but with two of the worst crashes we will ever see in our lifetime happening in the last 12 years I doubt we will see another one as bad as this again?

Tempted to have a little punt on this myself but with two more weeks lockdown how will this affect its share price?

Got £2k from a job paid into my share account today and I think I will have it spent by 10am. I was working out how many more shares I will get if it drops to say 226 and its not worth my grief trying to time it right as I will loose more money from doing nothing at work than just getting less shares.

Playingtheodds, I sold all my BT shares in may at a small loss, I bought them on the way down and then they suspended their dividend till 2022 and I saw the shares drop more. I saw better value in putting my money in another stock that I thought would recover better /quicker.
I have money in seven stocks, Persimmon is my main holding and all were bought for when dividends return. Two are to sell when they double to buy more Persimmon shares and the others are to keep. After this year I'm only reinvesting dividends in my stock as I think I would rather spend my money on myself and my family.

I know a few older people who drink in the bar I do who all voted to leave Europe, A month after the referendum was held I said to them 'What about trade' and I was told by them that that was my selfish reason for voting. I bet they don't realise that we have left Europe already.
