Pmoran, I have tried both of those ways for buying /selling shares and ended up getting less money/shares for the sake of just paying the £12.50 fee. I used to instantly reinvest the dividend then I noticed the £12.50 fee on that so now my money is held in my account and I choose myself when and who to put it in.

Thanks for your kind offer of help but I think the six main shares I hold are the only ones I plan to trade. I bought all my shares at a good price this year and have AV, PSN, BP, RDSB, LLOD,TWL and a couple of others I bought to sell when they double to buy into the ones I have mentioned.

I know my average price will rise once I top up with the dividends but if everyone of my stocks pays a similar dividend in 2022 as they did in 2019 I will have a ratio of between 11-14% for dividends.

There is nothing to say I won’t try other stocks but I’m less worried about loosing money with the ones I have.

If you sell shares you hold in an ISA do you get the instant price you want to sell at or do you get what it trades at close of business next working day? If its next working day I think I'm happy to stick with my trading account.

My friends son bought into Tesla when it was $1400 and I thought he was mad buying in that High as I refused to buy in at $360. We have had a stock split since then and a massive rise so who is the mad one now. I heard Tesla could possibly reach $2000 which I could now believe watching its rise over the last nine months.

Retiredcopper, I'm sorting my shares out so that in 10years time its a wage. I have spent a fortune on trading fees this year and I suspect from now on I will also have a lot of trading fees as I plan to reinvest every dividend I get plus buy and sell my share I hold over the same period. I only learned about dividends as a wage at the beginning of last year so have tried my best to get as much into Good dividend paying stocks as I don't plan to sell any unless I have to or they drop enough to buy in again.

My account is with Halifax as the amounts of cash you put in I wanted a reputable firm. I already have an ISA but its an investment type also with Halifax . I take it I need a different type of ISA to transfer into?
Funny thing is this year I raided my ISA to put money into my share account for this crash.

Is it easy to transfer shares out of my trading account into an isa? are there any downfalls to having shares in an isa compared to a trading account?

Paddyboy, IAG was a good share especially after the rights issue, I recently sold all my IAG at 163 and Topped up my RDSB at 12.55. it raised my average but the share has jumped £2 a share and rising fast.

Makes me laugh as I keep seeing a poster on RDSB and virtually every post is they sold too early and they are waiting for another low, the share just keeps rising. If they had just put their pride to one side and buy on the rise they would of still made a Good profit.

Thats a question no one knows as if they did they would make millions. People can only guess and I very much doubt anyone will tell you when to buy in.

Its all doom and gloom in the papers so there is still a chance of a drop coming. I'd be happy to have the shares sit low for another year to give me a chance to get as much money in as I can.

I was speaking to my accountant as I know my dividends are going to be above the base limit from next year on and he said it depends on what tax group you are in, if your a normal rate tax payer you pay 10% on dividends above £2000 but if your a higher rate tax payer you pay 36% tax ln dividends. So try to keep your wage out of the High tax bracket if you have a lot of dividend paying shares.

The 70p dividend was the rest of the postponed 110 dividend from July. I expect persimmon to stick to its normal dividend dates.

I wish I had your confidence to keep topping this up. I bought in last June when it was rising and watched it crash so thinking it could be round two of another downward price correction.

I sold out last week and bought into RDSB, I was thinking the share price would drop with the new lockdown ? There still is time for a drop as it was said the lockdown measures are in place till end of march. I was hoping for another 133 so I could buy in again.

Yes stock is rising quickly, anyone who sold earlier will be kicking themselves. I think the forecast is for £19 this year and all that while collecting dividends

Was going to top mine up today, then I heard the news that there will be a speech at 8pm tonight about locking the whole country down so I decided to wait till tomorrow.
