You say it's obvious vehicle uptake isn't meeting expectations, but it depends what you've read. Lots of companies (GS and Deloitte for example) accurately predicted the current plateau. They suggested as early as 2017 that 2024/25 would be very slow, but that price drops in the coming 2 years will make EVs more mass market.

If they are right (and I trust them a bit more than the 'research' some on here fall for!) then there will be a significant period of low sales, before another ramp up.

Companies will make investment decisions based on forecasts though, medi. If the forecasts turn out to be wrong they can't go back and change the decision they made in 2024.
