Same question as to chessgambiteer … ‘metals surging’, but folks also need to think about the input costs for mining extraction and processing.

EUA isn’t sitting on a warehouse of pure metal bars just waiting to be sold, where a rising metal price just means more profit.

EUA (or whoever might be stupid enough to buy the licences) would have to spend money locating, digging up, transporting and processsing ores, in order to produce metals for sale. those input costs are not fixed/static, nor are they trivial. (e.g. costs for processing low grade platinum ores into pure platinum being huge.)
