I so much as both thr submarine reactor and SMR design uses standard PWR type technology but the has some novel features. It is a 3-loop design, uses a different fuel form, the more and larger safety systems. It's a lot bigger and can generate up to 470 megawatts ( MW ) of electricity. The submarine reactor is much smaller as they isn't much room inside one of those vessels. But it is still a pressurised water reactor similar to those used all over the world.

I wouldn't be surprised as most probably the long lead steel has to be ordered and the forging made. It It then needs inspection, heat treatment and justication. With a following wind this can take a couple of years, if you're lucky, before the forging arrives at the machining facility. Also, you need to book a slot for producing the forging and Forgemasters are not sitting around waiting for RR. That's why Tufan is frustrated at all this faffing about by the Government.

No, they ruddy well are not going to consider other designs. It's just our dumb governments that have these types of competitions, because the trade rules say they should.

I'm guessing, but they are purchased before tax and NI using a salary sacrifice. The amount is most probably limited by company rules. Can only guess as can't find anything concrete on Google. When I worked for RR coukd buy £150 worth per month. Using salary sacrifice I effectively saved over 50% of the purchase price. Mind had to hang onto i them for longer than 5 years or I lost the tax and NI dicount
