tested what happens when combined with rendesivir or not etc. and was also positive for Interferon B.... there are quite a few - they tend to get published in Nature etc
any buy-out would want the base data - you are 100% right in that.
the regulatory authority thing just alters the price i think: bit like planning permission on a house for sale.

ascotmatt... i dont think this is quite correct but i might be wrong... my understanding is that even if you get the virus mildly, the way it enters your cells, knocks out your immune system; you might not know it. if you then get flu, your immune system will not respond to the flu and you are likely to die of the flu. not everyone is going to have a vaccine by eg october and therein lies the problem. I love the GSK Sanofi deal as it means Uk gov on the case and have picked up on this... the pie is big enough for both vaccine and therapeutics and both will be very happy bedfellows...

ragz, my take on trumps musings about kodak, were that the funding was largely for the production of the ingredients that go into generic production to drive down cost of the generics like anti-inflammatories for arthritis and tamoxifen for cancer etc etc and about bringing generic production back into the USA from India etc. Nothing much to do with virus therapeutics?

Christoffer: reasonable point... i think the BOD are spending most of their time working out which deal to cut though as this needs to get to market fast and for that they need cash

if you look at the VC companies they've invested in, its to stay invested, maybe leverage debt to grow, they've stayed for a reasonable while; a third have then gone on to do an IPO. As this is already on the public markets, then if they are going to invest as a VC, then i cant see it is not with the OK of the board - just judging from their past investments where they have been active investors, taking positions on board etc. Maybe they went to board and said " we'll fund you and help you; this is big, you dont have to sell out, lets take it off the public market, grow it and then in 3 years re-enter the public markets."
Probably not quite this but something might have happened along those lines - in which event Polar would sell as they cant get the upside for Polar.

an alternate possible (no idea but possible):
the guys on the first RNS this morning - they are VC's. Thus I cant help thinking they invested with the agreement of the board to potentially take private / take over. In this scenario, Polar would either sell or they would think the upside was limited for Polar.

oil, i think they will increase shareholding in order to takeover to take private off markets and / or sell on. They wont expect to turn it immediately though - looking at their other stuff, they've turned in circa 3 years.

HL have no idea when it will be back up - i have just moved the max dosh you can out of the account in a day over the issue - they seem to have 2 problems. The first is that the log in screen doesnt come up. They thought they had corrected that but whilst on the phone it crashed again. The second is when you do get past that screen it freezes and doesnt let you in anyway. All they say is you can call them and do manual trades! gave up and started to move money out.
