That was exactly my point when I posted that NCM shareholders would have to be completely bonkers to have accepted the deal put forward by Newmont.

Even if they come back with another offer, if I was a NCM shareholder, the first thing I’d be worried about would be the US dollars strength possibly declining this year, thus wiping out any % gains that may be offered.
It’s not as if they’d offered a buyout for cash is it.
No the crafty beggars thought they just offer them a percentage of a share.

They can do whatever they want to regarding dilution, raising more capital thus debt, once we see a better return on our initial investment.

Newcrest Mining's Telfer gold operation could be sold to Greatland Gold, the gold giant's junior partner in the nearby Havieron deposit.

Havieron has been touted as one of the best Australian copper-gold discoveries in
recent memory.
Industry sources suggest Greatland Gold is looking at its options to bid for Telfer and take back control of Haveiron if Newmont acquires the Australian-listed Newcrest
Mining after earlier making a $24bn buyout proposal.

Expectations are Telfer could be for sale with or without the
merger.

UK listed Greatland has a market capitalisation of about £400m ($715m) and wouldn't normally be seen as being in
the running for a major asset such as Telfer. Particularly given any buyer will also need
to factor in the fact that Telfer already has a $US150m ($225m) capital spent ahead of
it for a major mine cutback, as well as the development costs at Havieron - tipped at $$US70m to $US85m over the next year or so.

But Greatland also has a major backer in the form of Andrew Forrest's Wyloo Metals, which holds about 8.5 per cent of
the company's stock, with warrants that would allow it to move up to around 16 per cent with further investment.

The link to Forrest's deep pockets runs a little deeper than just an equity investment, as well. Greatland is chaired
by Fortescue Metals Group director Mark Barnabas.

Former Fortescue chief executive Elizabeth Gaines is also on the board, along with former Fortescue operations
director Paul Hallam, although it has been some time since the veteran resources executive last saw the inside of the Fortescue offices.
Greatland recently appointed former Fortescue head of corporate development Jeremy Meynert, along with a couple of members of its team, as its chief development officer.

None of that means a deal will definitely be done, but Wyloo boss Luca Giacovazzi is an admitted admirer of the Havieron deposit.
Giacovazzi told a Canadian mining symposium last week that the company believed Haveiron was a "world class"
orebody, noting that Newcrest had already begun building a decline to access the deposit before it had finished its feasibility studies on its development.
"Wonderful ore body, world class ore body, can't beat it," he said.
"The great thing about Havieron is they know that it's such a good ore body that they're sort of building it before they even finish their studies."

But Giacovazzi was coy when asked whether Wyloo was considering bidding for Telfer, or would back Greatland in a
bid for the gold mine, suggesting the question should be directed to Greatland boss Shaun Day.
"Obviously Telfer is part of their thinking. And obviously there are things happening
around Newcrest, which you would be aware of," he said.

Paddy the reason I stated 6M oz’s, is because if everything goes to plan at Havieron, then as Shaun has eluded to, that figure will be a minimum amount of ounces in GGP’s coffers with an already built production facility just down the road.

This is what some people here don’t seem to get.

Somehow they think we need to find another motherlode on one of our own prospects, which would be narvana if it ever happened.
But even if we don’t find anything else for the foreseeable, what we’ve already got is absolutely fabulous, and over time will become a real cash cow for those investors who choose to hold.

Who knows at this stage how long the mine life of Havieron will be, but I’m betting my investment that it’ll be 40 years plus.

Just look at the volume of shares being traded here.
It’s minuscule, 10-14 million per day against a little over 5 Billion in circulation, Yes BILLION.

Most people are not trading this share, they have them nicely squirrelled away, waiting for the inevitable DTM and start of production.

The only ones I see who are bothered about the daily SP are the ones who bought these shares as a punt, and haven’t a clue about what’s to happen once in production. Or traders who like to see stocks ebb & flow 5-10%.

Investors on the other hand will wait patiently to make returns on their investment.

You’ve just got to decide which one you are.

I’m a 60’s child myself, and even though I was brought up in a mining town with two working collieries, I never had any desire to go deep underground, or “Darn’t Pit” as was known back then.

I take my hat off to you sir for doing such a dangerous job back then, as many a folk where killed or maimed just like a few men I knew who lost their lives at Golborne Pit in the 80’s.
And that is why I’m more surprised by your post.

Your just peeved that as you say, your £200k down on your investment, (your words not mine) and your looking for something or someone to hang the blame on.

It was you who decided to invest in GGP, nobody held a gun to your head, so just grow up and own the fact that you mistimed your entry.

Over the last couple of weeks, you have come up with so many questions that you say you want to ask, but as I said, you can’t be bothered to ask them directly.

You say it’s impossible for you to attend the meeting next Thursday, that’s fine, not everyone can. But it doesn’t excuse you from not sending your questions via email to the company directly, as many of us have done, you might just be surprised what answers you get back.

I’ve got one answer for that, as my late mother used to always say to me,

But one thing I will do is speak my mind, especially when I see someone having a go at another persons livelihood, having not the faintest idea of what that person does or doesn’t do.

Like I said, I can’t comment on what said person brings to the party, as I, like you have no idea. But I’m sure he serves a purpose, otherwise Shaun Day wouldn’t still be employing him.

If you want to continue turning over every rock looking for answers, may I suggest you start at the tailings pile in around 14 months time, where I’m sure you’ll find more than enough stones & rocks to look under.

Bablake, I can’t comment on what Alex Borelli brings or not brings for GGP, but instead of your sniping at the fella why don’t you get your ar5e down to the Town Hall meeting next Thursday and ask Shaun directly.
It’s no good huffing & puffing on here, coz no matter what you say, you won’t blow the little piggies house down.

Like you said, you have not been here too long, so why would anyone in your shoes accept a low ball offer.

With a little more patience, perhaps you will be able to share the bright outlook many of us see forthcoming.

Unfortunately sentiment here is on it’s ar5e, but once the DTM along with an upgraded MRE is affirmed and produced, then I foresee a tremendous uplift in sentiment, leading to a huge scramble for investors to get their hands on as many GGP shares as they can.

Like most things in life, timing is everything, and our time is not too far away.

Couldn’t it just be as simple as NCM don’t want to give up any of their 70%, and that’s why they turned down Shaun’s offer.
But also tried to take the remaining 30% on the cheap, but due to Shaun’s Queens gambit, totally outmanoeuvred the plans of Biswas’s swan song.
