hopefully being 5 steps ahead will provide vision (within sight) for future markets. PHE is after all a waste to energy system. AFC are a potential consumer. All countries have a lot of waste. And I totally agree, it's a little way off yet as a) we need to see a working AFC product and b) we need to integrate/test with PHE.

Just to continue that thought - you could have local council / county authorities setting up an ESCO company. The company would take in all municipal waste. Pass the waste into PHE units and resultant H2 into AFC FCs. ESCO sells into the grid.
Then, as well as today's waste, you can start digging up existing landfill sites to clean up the environment, using the waste from decades of landfill (where no recycling ever took place) and use that as modern-day "coal". Councils would have a massive income. We get less landfill leaching into the ground and a clean-up operation that will provide jobs and clean power for decades to come. In parallel we can start cleaning up the oceans of plastic using he same model.

You could also argue that there will still be a market for clean electricity to supply electric cars. E.g an ESCO that is 100% clean from Hydrogen. As we know, the electricity is fed into the general grid but you choose how that electric gets there. It's just another model that could employ PHE and AFC tech that's all.

I see it being a fixed unit which can be expanded if necessary but in a permanent location, using the latest designs for longevity and power density.

Hi AnneOwl - sure you're talking about 2 different markets - one "moveable" product (containerised) that can replace diesel generators. The other is a fixed site scenario with one or more stationary units for permanent on-site generation needs ?

Some of the posts here this morning remind me of some of the foolish MPs who last night were already rejecting the Brexit proposal before they'd even read the 500 page document. Regardless of what your position is, you need time to read and analyse the content before rashly rejecting something. That speaks of trying to get your voice heard, negative or positive to influence others and cause chaos. There is a lot of information in this morning's RNS - read, digest and reflect. Then discuss.

Jgbb122 nobody can argue with you with respect to the share price however we do appear to have more balanced RNSs these days. And you’re correct, 6 weeks or so to the end of another quarter. We can hope on positive news on Southern, especially if the system is due to implement mid 2019.

Agreed, and I would hope it's an (over)simplified format of hydrogen supply in, electricity and water out plus system monitoring connections.

Good morning BumbleB. That’s interesting. I don’t see any reference to PLACE in the RNS at all. I see it simply as they’re still assessing the scale of the project (this could lead to more or less hydrogen available than originally envisaged) and that work is progressing on how the finished article will be containerised. The plug and play aspect is a good sign to me that the fuel cells can be used in isolation or tandem and will provide a neat article that will be on show and provides a safe/enclosed environment that could be used for standalone applications.

This is why I am not buoyed by the updated last week - we've effectively had an update on the Southern deal but we're still none the wiser in terms of PLACE and whether we have a cost effective product to take to market. Conversely, we have the Southern prospective contract - if they weren't convinced that we have a viable product then why are they even progressing things - so, a mixed bag of subtle positives maybe.

Hi Barnacles. I wouldn’t consider myself a doomonger. I’ve supported and continue to support AFC for almost 9 years. I’m just not bowled over by today’s news that’s all. I doubt whether MMs monitor this particular board and base their days work on what is written here! If that were the case they’d have better results looking iat their tea leaves :)

I think it’s continued frustration that timescales shift constantly. I fully appreciate that there are many moving parts to get right and the road to commercialisation is complex. Let’s hope Southern’s assessment for Hydrogen volume is not protracted and we can get the commercials moving quickly if we get the green light. It would be good to get another prospective customer line up also as a backup plan

You’re right strontium of course. It’s reassuring that the contract is still there potentially but as Risky suggests it’s looking like it could be smaller than originally envisaged. I hope this is an incorrect assumption of course. Containerisation is still being investigated which is good. I would hope this is concluded ahead of the potential southern deal

Am I missing something here? Was that just a typical AFC news item we used to get? “We’ve had a meeting “ ? I’m reading there’s a delay to the potential contract but it could potentially be a larger order? Or a smaller order? Why tell us this now and why not wait until Southern has decided for sure especially if the timescales for deployment are the same? Someone please convince me otherwise.
