If they can crack the design and price point for small units, I think this market is potentially enormous - even for tiny units - I walk my dog and there's a coffee man with a trailer there every day with his noisy portable diesel generator - if that was a silent and non-polluting AFC fuel cell, what a difference that would make - now multiply that by thousands !... and that's for small units - scale that model up for larger off-grid uses as well as the mobile phone mast industry and that market alone will be enough to keep AFC in business for years to come !
I guess it comes down also to price of hydrogen cylinders and how long they last for the size of unit and ease of replacement.

whatever the language used, I am more inclined now to agree with DW - when I am involved in projects, I have targets to aim for - I report back regularly to understand whether the target is achievable or not. DW correctly states that AFC never report back on missed / dropped / updated targets. For AFC, it allows them to be vague enough to drift forever onwards. This is the perception from an outside position as a shareholder. However, this maybe completely different on the inside, with proper project management being followed to achieve internal targets, This is likely to be the case otherwise De Nora, Southern Oil and Hydrogen Council wouldn't touch us with a bargepole !

So we need to keep an open mind as ever and hope that AFC deliver a further commercial update with CLEAR updates on previous and future targets.

Hi DW - I'm not disagreeing with you - all I asked was for the language used in this forum to be less aggressive. You only have to watch and hear about Brexit in this country 24x7 to get enough of that.

We're all equally frustrated by seemingly lack of progress at AFC. Let's hope they pull out all the stops with a cracking start to 2019 once holiday season is over - next Monday judging by the lack of people in work here :)

Please please please can we dampen down on deriding the directors at every opportunity ? It's fine to have a pop if you feel it necessary but let's keep the language friendly, constructive and amusing. We don't have a clue what the directors are doing, or not doing behind the scenes. They are in their positions and we need to accept that. They will be ousted or promoted depending on how they are performing.

Hopefully we will see how they have been performing when we see the next update, which we all expect to see some positive news on what were "expectations" in previous RNSs.

Well, the fact it's in there Notes is great. We know AFC are heavily involved with DeNora and it's a good relationship in my eyes.
The SP is at an unprecedented low. Maybe DeNora want in at these low prices rather than a fundraise, or both ? Who knows, none of us know, that's for sure.

Hi BumbleB - I don't disagree but when we have gone through the R&D stage and have had working products in a commercial environment (i.e. Stade), we should know that even at the unfinalised stage, we have a design that is proven to exceed a minimum of x%. We're way beyond R&D now (if not by now, we may as well give up) so we should be able to get some stats out there that shows not only that we're about to commercialise but also we have a low temp tech that should massively reduce manufacturing costs and maintenance costs.

I am also buoyed with the fact AFC featured as DeNora's #1 item in the achievements for 2018 - maybe it's a signal to us that things are progressing well on that front - fingers crossed chaps and chapettes ! :)

Why oh why do we have to read things like "Such a high value has not been reported by any other research team worldwide" in that Fuelcellswork article when AFC have stated that their system exceeds 60% a few years ago. Come on AFC, get your name out there - if Fuelcellswork don't know about your tech that's pretty negligent !

Either the journalist was incompetent, or W2T were less liberal with the whole picture. The story remains valid and compelling but the facts surrounding needed clarification which we now have

I invested here as: A) I believe there is a need for this tech B) the world needs to get cleaner and hydrogen offers more than resource hungry batteries C) AFC would appear to have a more efficient and cost effective FC D) we have some large investors onboard who remain invested. Yes, we need concrete news on manufacturing partners and a finalised contract for Southern but based on the recent RNSs, I have no basis to put AFC down and I’m prepared to wait. I have no choice other than that wait it out of course:)

TheHare - If people were genuinely invested they wouldn’t persistently talk down the company and offer nothing positive out or the information we have received. There’s a difference between genuine questioning and disingenuous negative sentiment

I agree it would be a good boost for Mr Bond or other directors to take a formal RNSd purchase of shares in the company. That would certainly provide much needed confidence in the company given minimal news updates. Keith Allaum of PHE set a good example. No reason to suggest that Adam Bond hasn’t been building up a holding in personal ISA or his family.
