£1.63 was a fair offer when gold was $2500 and Cey £1.18. Now gold is $160 higher and given the lovely latest figures I imagine Cey would be about £1.40 today without the Anglo bid so the premium is only around 15%, maybe not enough to convince enough holders to accept and I wonder if they will have to raise it or pull out? They must be kicking themselves they did not bid a couple of months earlier.

They should be able to do both, a small dividend and hefty debt reduction, and I am sure that is what they will do

The PGM basket seems to be ticking up slightly as platinum and palladium rise, plus gold now 18% of Karo basket, but chrome seems to be ticking down slightly faster. The weekly basket and chrome price on the company investors site seems to have halted, there has been no report since week ending sept 6, maybe thought too depressing for us and they are being kind?

Yes gnome, but if this is profit enhancing from the start reduces the Anglo overall AISC and they have got it on the cheap, partly because of the Emra fly in the ointment, then their price might well rise?

Gosh Oracle, haven't a clue as depends so much on gold and silver price, but whatever they are the heavy weight of the hedge and collar on so much of our output this year, so missing out on a lot, becomes much less next year, tho depends if they have to keep buying new hedges/collars to assure lenders they can pay down the debt or are able to clear debt faster than expected.

Prof, on another note if you are reading this, I am wondering whether to hold on as I think that if buying Cey is such a good deal for Anglo as we all think, and if its share price has been held back during the deal, once it is all done Anglo should rerate so maybe actually has more upside than the rivals one might put the money in. I notice that Fres I have suggested as an alternative since the deal was announced has soared and much more than Hoc which many have chosen, but Hoc has bene flavour for a while while Fre has seemed very unloved? (of course for reasons). Others thought son where to put the Cey money or stick here?

Prof I didn't notice this as posted in the rare THS board, thanks for asking. Sadly my house built has near doubled in price, so needs more than 1.60 from Cey , especially as THS from which I moved a chunk has near halved. I have yet to sell any CEY though minded to start, the big question is where else to put that money if I chose gold, I have 40% already in Hoc (which has of course made up for THS and more), I have been posting Fres is a god alternative, up near 20% since I began but unfortunately (or maybe not) rarely brave enough to take my own advice. Or pay down the hefty mortgage which has2 years to run but is only at 0.92%, thoughts?

Yes Centamin profits rise about 3 fold the gold price (or a bit less now, as gold rises the multiplier falls) IF ounces mined, costs, exchange rates, etc stay the same, but costs tend to rise with inflation (or faster) as gold does. I would sell at this price but would of course be happier with a higher offer

A. If Cey is such a snip and worth a lot more wouldn’t. Barrick etc have bid more

B. Simply Wall St has fair value for Anglo at $80 trading 65% below fair value, earnings forecast to grow over 30% a year, if they have Centamin and we are right then this should be even more. This is probably excessive but we may be hitching to a good company at a decent price and the BOD may have done well for us

C. I am hanging on for now, hoping even for a bit more

It will be interesting if gold miners rise and Anglo doesn’t whether institutional holders will demand a somewhat higher price

This reports suggest Anglo is buying only 86%of Cey.??

And why would those who are selling be waiting for a higher offer or facilitating one, wouldn't they in that case hold?

Sorry if I don't quite understand what you are saying: do you think big shareholders realise that this is as much as they will get so MANY are selling or the they are holding as wish to either keep Anglo shares

Given Emra holding a higher offer form elsewhere might be quite complex, tho perhaps Barrick or Endeavour might be able to, but they might well think the current offer is well pitched at near as much as Cey is worth?
