Siko, thank you as ever for your long history of knowledgable insights and decency that tempers the greed of some: maybe you should be brave and make another charity appeal, think if we each gave 1% of the profit we had made, and whilst some might insult you most would applaud you and quite a few of the folk here are lovely and might give.

Also I think that Karo is now 17% gold, more than its rhodium

The baskets are rising, Tharisa is heading towards $1500 and Karo is up to $1330, so maybe rising prices will save us from the sword of ending share buy back that has been hanging over our head and knocked 10p off our price that may come back....and hopefully more; ever wishful

Lovely to see you as ever Prof, I am hanging on a bit but plan to sell 277k in 3 or 4 tranches, before budget, keeping 220k that are in ISA and Sipp. I think they could rise a bit further if Anglo does.

Sadly I don’t think Anglo has a chat board here, which those of us keeping some shares for the ride could keep up on. Maybe some of us will buy Hoc Fres or Edv with some of the proceeds and keep up there

I am foolhardy and very concentrated, but believe so strongly in gold’s moment, at current prices I am 37% Cey and even more, 40%, Hoc so I can’t buy more of them, just 2% Fres. (And a disastrous 1% Orosur). I do think Fres has a bit of potential to bounce back? Hoc profits Ltd this year as half the output is hedged at prices around 10% lower than now but next year should be v strong imho.

Steve and all, I am interested when you sold/sell what other gold miners you might have got/get instead. There is still one large one on the FTSE, Fresnillo which like Hoc now does more gold than silver. The share price is very bombed out still? It is quite likely to rise more than Cey through this bid process? But long term??

On another note the only sad thing about the takeover will be losing this board which is somewhat like a family with all the wonderful and exasperating folk; we have quite got to know each other. - the decent and wise ones who left and I miss like Uncertain and Tiger, and DJRyan who mostly knew better, the knowledgable like Dansul, the inimitable Mr Tibbs a thoroughly modern man with all his conspiracy theories, and the likes of you Steve with your Occam’s razor and the simplest explanation is likeliest. I hope Market is still with us to reap this reward. If Anglo now rises with the market we shall all have pretty shiny flip flops soon, hang on or if you sell buy anothr miner

Marmot of course if gold rises so should Anglo share price and hence the price of Cey, and then for those taking Anglo shares those too. So we are still keenly hoping for gold to break out and get the rise in Cey + 30%

Yes Paul that was in 2020 when profits were 60% higher than now, and as you point out rather than rising as hoped they fell with the unexpected wall and soaring costs. If this bid fails the shows will probably fall back near to 120, as we fell back after Endeavour didn’t happen. I for one would far rather have 163 now if becomes real with 30% more to put I another goldie, they can’t all have prospects 30% worse than an unsold Cey. I imagine institutions thinking of how much they will make in the future rather than the emotionally, will feel the same so it is likely to go ahead. Our board was right to reject the Endeavour bid at just the 13% premium, this premium is quite different as is the buyer imho

Endeavour offer 0.0846 of its own shares for each Centamin share, equivalent to about 126.27 pence per share. That represents a 13% premium to the British company’s last closing price.

Bushy the point is Endeavour did not offer 160p but just a 13% premium to our share price, then around 110 so no chance to get out 30% above it. Plus as we have see. Not ultimately a very reliable owner to continue owning shares in. Horgan has held on and done considerably better now. I doubt he could have got much more but if anyone else wants it they could bid and we would mostly be thrilled

As ever Steve, exactly, plus Horgan has got us a reasonable offer that I have hoped he would, with his background, for a long time. One can switch to another goldie for continued exposure, with 30% more shares. While a higher bid is possible I think unlikely, particularly given you are buying half a mine with Emra. So thank you for the hard work Mr Horgan

The real value is what somebody is willing to pay for the shares. Emra owning half limits the possible purchasers, probably just Endeavour which I imagine is unlikely to try again.amd Barrick which may well consider Cey is not worth more. I for one would feel very happy getting 30% more than it was a week ago for a share that is never so loved by th London market as it deserves.

Clued I have 597k shares, sadly I sold a hunk a couple of years ago and put in Tharisa which turned out to be terrible, but happily sold other shares to buy the Cey back at lower prices reducing my average to 113p. I have 377k in trading accounts owhich plan to sell in three or four tranches when ticks up and before budget. I shall retain 220k in Isas and sipp so will remain a bit exposed to Cey and gold with my new Anglo shares when takeover is complete. Might even invest some of the 377k back in Anglo. What other miners are others here choosing? I am v pleased as solves the dilemma of how to take the cgt profit on Cey before Oct.
