Nigel Pickett liked a post on linkedin by someone thanking the networking use of the helm club (supper club). Nano put out a did you know we've got more than 350 patents in qd puff piece on linkedin and twitter.

Meanwhile Sony have 42-55% of the image sensor market depending on who you read with samsung on less than half of that. Out in the weeds omnivision then you get to the 3-6% players like stm.

What will happen next week? Probably not very much.

What we have on this board is probably 2 people with at least 4 accounts between them who absolutely live here. You've got to ask yourself why they do, and why they try to drown out anyone who else who posts.

Incessant ugly noise from the short alt accounts again. Think we are a while away from any board room decision on the future. NEDs will want to see if direct pursuit of small-scale opportunities is bs or tangible and even if tangible what the real timescale is to see what sort of offset against cash burn is possible. They will obviously have a more informed view of the asian chemical co than we do.

Can't see us getting anything news wise prior to october fy unless the direct pursuit is very real.

And while you are thinking, if that is the right word, got any synonms for the word photodetector

You need a device to test the functionality of silicon wafers to go in them that's not the same as manufacturing the final device itself..

Can you say that again, you need to build a device which tests the silicon wafer?

Or this sentence from the interims:

This new space will be dedicated to a Fab for the testing and development of devices incorporating our nanomaterials to accelerate product development and support engagement with new and existing customers.

Here is the 1st line of the current vacancy for a device phys:

Carry out research to develop processes for fabrication of infrared QD

photodetector devices, using Nanoco’s proprietary colloidal QDs as the

inorganic active layers.

Does it sound a like a wafer with dots in it?

So I'll say it again. The next step is for nano to negotiate use of qf (with gen1 dots) and the sensor device with STM and begin to 'directly pursue' those parties were interested in the samples they have already received and fed back on.

If they can't make dots that anyone wants what makes you think making a sensor with the dots in would make any difference?..that's before you factor in all the upfront capex spend etc and having no sensor manufacturing experience!

That's a bit silly, Who do you think was sending out sample evks with the gen1 dots in them? What do you think a device fab is?

They are still 2.5 years from completing a next gen sensor ( by the hortiqd timetable). Dunno why they couldn't land a big win with gen1 but we are told strategic priorities not a technical problem.

Edison speculation matches my guess that JS couldn't find a high vol (mob phone) buyer for qd sensors so they cooled and didn't want to build them for lower level orders. Next step is for nano to get mates rates on making their own QF and sensor device and supplying to those lower vol orders.

I know they used their device fab for samples not sure of its capacity.

In 2023 Steckel said he hoped that he could get the swir qd chip down to 1 dollar if volumes were high, with presumably 25 cents or less coming to nano, think we'd be charging more than a dollar a qf spin-coated chip.

K a very well argued post. And i understand the anger of genuine LTHs and that you've heard it all before. But i'm going to annoy people anyway. Hopefully a new ceo sees that Nano has proved over 20 years that there is no market for a QD factory as yet and there might never be one. My guess is that the feedback stm got from its dozens of gen 1 evks was that while there was interest from a few there wasn't sufficient volume for them to proceed ( they didn't land a mobile phone co).

But if you can make use of stm tech to meet interest from those customers that were interested and get some products launched you stay in the market for mobile phone usage in the future and you also have a chance of getting bought out at a good price if recent history is anything to go by.

Yes there is a gap, stm could tell them to sod off in which case they are still in qd sensors and just wanted rid of nano, but if they don't block i look forward to lots of good news rns for piddling amounts of money (true). But i'm still at the age where my hair grows back.
