Imo more importantly was it a significant enough sum remaining to scrap the scheme to preserve cash given lack of orders. There are arguments either way. Nano would say the usual - from our position in the supply chain we don't have sight of end device launches - so they can only presume delayed launch rather than cancelled product and so buyback continues.

Nano will argue that from their position in the supply chain they can never know about product launches, which is a little disingenuous cos they only have to ask STM and they stated one would be in 2024 in their 2023 FY.

They could also surprise to the upside catching you out with resumption of orders or a bid for the company.

I doubt BT left of his own choice. 2024 FY mgt accounts showed him they hadn't met guidance, he probably made a show of offering his resignation to the board and was surprise to find himself soon to be jobless. Don't know anything about CR but think he's done his term hasn't he.

Imo the new fab gives them an opportunity to drum up new business in sensing. Coated chips for business in partnership with STM (guess that is where they are getting their lithography programmes from as well as use of QF) where they don't need to wait for STM to sell ideas to oems but can do so themselves. Still not sure what the qd on 'coupons' is, perhaps for their Asian chemical co's customers and anyone else who is working with an stm competitor.

Their RNS history is littered with dead ends. Guess it's like the Marl LED light partnership unless the other party is going to stump up the cash, create, manufacture and promote the device it just remains a good piece of research. It's why Steckel landing at STM has made it their only true opportunity. Even the 2023 dot supply agreement to a Chinese co appears to have led to zero sales, in fact that deal is the Chinese companies most recent announcement on their website - they probably went bust.

While they have spare money for 3 years or so they could employ someone to update the NANO website and tell us what is going on. None of it is price sensitive, it's history.

Everyone here has strategy behind their postings whether long/short or talking it down to get in lower/talking it up to get the price higher to get out with a profit. Here's a BT para from the 2023 FY annual report (page 12). Pretty clear the first low volume orders were meant for a specific customer who has failed to launch in 2024. Yeah I agree a reason might be to do with 1st gen but is also possible that the delay is for some other and unrelated problem in the supply chain. If, for instance it was a new global shutter camera well we've still only got the Sony A9 III and some cine camera's by the Nikkon owned RED,. Most of the other oems have been threatening to launch for years, in Canon's case over ten years.

A bidding war sounds good to me. Only thing that makes sense of a shark outfit like cable car buying in, either they know something about orders and think the sell off/valuation is an opportunity or they see it is as very buyable.

STMs last round of acquisitions was 2020 when it picked up 3 unlisted companies french BeSpoon for an undisclosed fee, likewise canadian Riotmicro and french exagan.

The FY in october will have to spell out where everything has gone but from what i've read the co expected to have 90m usd after legal/litigation costs, so approx 70m gbp. And we can see 52m gbp plus the 3m gbp share buyback, plus payment of the 5m gbp loan ( i hope), So 10m quid to account for, yes some of that on the fab but yes a few mill left to explain. Think they also were the best part of 2m up on a currency hedge and as you have said a few times the must have accrued some interest.

My guess is they ballsed up their estimates of the legal/litigation costs.
