Any views on the debt funding announced today ? Presumably a good thing if it refinances at current low rates with longer maturity

Oh and just to be clear I would scalp a few points on dips so for example if it goes up to 1270 tomorrow and I add 50 - if it fell 20 or 30 points later in the day I would close one of them down

clearly i don't think that will happen but am "happy" to short up to around 200 pp and no further ie add 50 again as 1270ish, another at 1320 etc up to 200 where I will stop i can easily see this dip under 10 in the near term but we will see everyone has an opinion !

Given the info we have at the moment I wouldn't disagree with you - fair price of this share is 200-220 area. Not saying it couldn't get to 290 at some point but requires ongoing organic improvements of course which is just normal business really and doesn't happen overnight so will take time to realise naturally The wild card of course is a potential takeover -and then 290 is certainly in play if not 300+ - clearly Vodafone prefer a liberty tie up but price and regulator issues have not been overcome so far and tktalk is next best option - may never happen but should perhaps add a wee premium on the share price until we know.

Err we are definitely NOT saying the same thing !!!! For an investor it shouldn't really matter if a company pays dividends or retains the cash within the business to invest in their operations, pay down debt etc - if the company is owned by one shareholder and is worth say 100 and pays a divi of 5 then after the divi it will be worth 95 and the shareholder will have 5 in cash - 100 in total - if the company doesn't pay a divi the investor has 100 - absolutely no difference. i couldn't care less about the divi - what is important is earnings and talktalk just grew 44% in first half year and reiterated analysts guidance - the fact that they pay such high dividends is indicative that management expect earnings to continue to grow In the future and if you bother to read their report you will see how they plan to achieve this.

Ok well at least we know where your numbers are coming from and as I thought they are based on historical earnings whereas I am using firecasted ongoing earning excluding allI one off hacking costs etc. In a business that just announced a 44% increase in first half profits and reiterated guidance for the full year in line with analysts expectations and so I think mine are more useful unless you don't believe management at all and think profits will slump somehow which is more unlikely now than ever as more people are signing up to longer term contracts as disclosed in results As I say I am happy if these stay where they are for a few days while I get my cash together !.

What you mean is you don't have a coherent answer and are just blindly ranting - with your poor command of English and if I am being generous auto-speller errors (which I fall foul of occasionally too) it is hard to know if you are stupid, malevolent or deluded !!! The facts are clear - future is good share price very undervalued - tiny P/E ratio for a steady company with a good strategy for steady profit growth. The biggest concern from more sensible posters is that the divi is only just covered by earnings and that is more or less true - you can look at this two ways - divi is too high relative to steady earnings and so divi should be cut or that management are confident of the growth of earnings as they say and so it is perfectly appropriate . Either way the pe ratio is in the single digits in a very profitable growth business which is a likely takeover target down the line. Even if it is the former the easiet thing in the world for management to control is the divi payment as opposed to margins sales growth etc etc - they could half it and it is still in the top 10% of income stocks in the ftse 250 and then debt would fall easing any concerns in that regard. I am trying to release some funds to buy some more and am hoping it stays at this level until Friday !!!

Oh hush ! Plenty of retained earnings to cover -dividend - it isn't around a six month period otherwise every seasonal business that paid a dividend would be doing time and every year a company made a loss e.g. The big oil companies would be in chains last year ebitda was around 180m this year 320-330m and growing- more visibility on earnings with longer term contracts , strong cost control, growing strongly in business use, low and falling churn , debt is long term and not going to be called in next week - calm yer knickers !!

shouldn't really make a difference - the price will fall by 5p per share after this goes ex divi all other things being equal but then you get the divi of 5p so no net difference - depends on how many you have and whether you prefer capital gains or income and whether that has a tax implication for you

Just on the autumn statement - did anyone see Andrew marr at the weekend with Philip Hammond ? He talked about spending on effective infrastructure to help grow the economy and specifically talked about enhancing broadband reach as an item Not sure exactly what that might mean for talktalk and other providers but could be good I guess

weird no one commented on a major shareholder upping their stake - just under 5m shares - presumably they still think there is value here !

What is the relevance of this ? Every business every person has committed spend ? They also have committed revenue not in the accounts. On fundamentals this is undervalued by 20-30% at current and forecasted earnings at least - very happy to keep adding at these levels - add in the probability that at some point - maybe a few years away that Vodafone or an other will snap this up makes this an easy buy. As long as they continue to make money divi payment or share price appreciation are just different Sides of the same coin.
