They are doing the right things (belatedly) - reducing s, g and a costs but keeping journos, increasing prices, raising cash from surplus asset sales, reducing exec pay and doubling down on the i. Get a proper debt consolidation in place and there is a way through - a risk certainly but for me this could be 40 or 50 p in 2 or 3 years - or could be zero but I like the odds and so have put in 25k from my sippt at 13p average -

Let me postulate another scenario - sales up , international up, asps up, profit up because of restructuring surprise new structure recommended by credit Suisse e.g. Hovis sale , and new well regarded chairman Probably not all at once but I am feeling positive !

add to that the fact that they have said they have renegotiated some of their prices to supers and the whole Credit Suisse strategic options thing - on the basis that there is no smoke without fire I would hope there would be some kind of significant announcement later in the week just ahead of the AGM - speculation I know but hey ho - long suffering !

i understand about easter - in fact i have mentioned it before and found it unusual they didnt use it as a reason for a fall in sales last update but suspected they left it in their back pocket for this next announcement as it was at the time of the AGM and they can show sales rises - hence my expectation that sales will be up (and the fact they said they were very happy with the first 6 weeks of the period) As for non branded being unprofitable - well clearly that isn't true otherwise they wouldnt do it - it may be LESS profitable than branded sales but that is they a question of overhead recovery vs marketing spend etc and is more a strategic choice.- clearly there is a role for it but it depends on the level and the value etc

Err the times doesn't say anything about either of those things? Anyway if true that sales are down would indeed be very disappointing - for the record I am expecting a rise of 1-2%

The growth in grocery is now all in convenience stores - google what Tesco and Sainsbury's both say and they are potentially about to take over while swathes of the independent sector. What the majors want is a simplification of range - 5 versions of yogurt not 50. Premier as the leading supplier in their sectors and cross sector segments is well placed to benefit from this - fewer sku s is what the industry is are after. Debt overhangs the company that is why I think the cs news is so encouraging- selling a non core brand to reduce debt will in my view trigger a significant rerating but les see what they say in a couple of weeks !

I agree with a lot of what you say - nissin would have bid by now if they wanted the company as a whole. Also hi hi is an idiot. Also agree that a good q1 result will make this go up - sales growth above 2% would do it ( and I personally think that will happen given the mood music) BUT 75p is unrealistic without a bid- late 40s end of July and steady growth to mid 50s is best we can hope for in the short term without a bid

Don't know about you but the WSJ rings true and I would trust their journalists more than the Board !! No doubt Oasis have been pressuring this review - in fact the Premier RNS didn't deny it they said its "normal business practice" and includes hiring advisors something is brewing most definitely - I opened a spreadbet - £750 per penny - 7p stop loss Fingers crossed

It will be oasis buying the stake from Merrill as they did before moving towards their 15% holding as they said they would - obviously they have confidence !!
