No smartie you are wrong on trying to link the two. A company can continue to trade with a CVA and not enter into administration and restructure their debts

theres no way Ashley will let this go into administration until hes got further security by securing the 150 million loan. that's why I have no concern about that. If he gets control he may force it into administration to write off the debts, but not before.

This is a two horse race between Debenhams BOD package and Ashleys loan offer

metamorphosis; I think this puts Ashley in a stronger position to gain control, but that could also mean a spike in the sp if there is no share dilution with his loan offer. I think he has played it right in giving two options on the 150 million loan, one option not being share dilution.

Smartie I cant see why you keep linking a CVA to administration? they are two independent entities. A CVA is a strong possibility and would do wonders for the SP. I genuinely think administration is long shot and definitely not anytime soon

One bit of logic that hasn't been mentioned here is that if shares are being disposed of then so are voting rights. How's this going to effect Mike ashleys power in the boardroom? Id say it might be stronger to acquire Debenhams

there's no way they work for a fund, because as I say if they did they would have been doing this months ago, not doing it now. There are plenty of shares out there that are just starting the process of being shorted, so to start on this one at this point; a hedge fund manager would give you your P45

as you said metamorphosis we all know the risks so fair play go for it. I've been tracking this share for months, read every article and I like to look at both sides of the argument on this board. Thinking about the short position, if I had a major stake in the game and I don't mean pocket money would I thinking when a price is at a record low and there is the possibility, and only a possibility, that this company could be bought out by mike Ashley, or be refinanced and put on a more secure footing that id want to buy more?

brave move shorting this share this morning, looks like it is at the bottom and getting volatile

it looks to me like this is being heavily shorted this morning to set up a market entry point. from 2.98 to 3.15 in minutes

I know this share can be volatile at the best of times but I currently have two different charts mapping two different prices. Anyone else seeing the same? the variance is about 4%

safeyields; I also hold a reasonable amount and theres no chance I will be selling the bulk of it until this share recovers significantly. The holders on this board have had to suffer over the last few months with the lack of information from Debenhams, but its coming to the thin end of the wedge where either Debenhams refinance and restructure, or Ashley makes a sensible bid. Personally I hope Debenhams keep Ashley out and carry out a sustained program of restructuring and cost cutting

greatmaze; ive been staggered from the start at how little information the executive team and BOD release to the press. I can see them just issuing a minor press release about having refinanced the business and not even mentioning Mike Ashley

there are many hazards that lie ahead for Debenhams in getting through restructuring, the main one being Mike Ashley, but paying the rent is something that's been made up by the press

maybe pyueck when the finance director and the loans manager were sitting around the table scrutinizing all the books and covenants and then the finance director had to give a detailed plan on how they would meet their financial commitments over the coming months they should have had you there to mention they need to pay next months rent?

I agree smartie that in the next few days there will be drama one way or another. If im honest I expected the price to be more volatile on the run up but then it was all quiet like this days ago when the price leapt from 3p to 4p as you well know. can you afford to miss out on 25% again?
