RE: Hussar14 Aug 2025 10:10
It is interesting that the blockers to progress at Hussar appear to be related to the provision of further information, either regarding ARLA or the expanded area Environmental Assessment (which was formerly spoken of as a gimme). I first thought this when GEX announced it was pressing ahead with the Mt Winter application when previously it was indicated that this would be funded from Hussar. Do we conclude that Hussar has stalled for some unmentioned reason? Or, given the delay, have they simply decided that Mt Winter might just as well progress?
TBF, I’m not sure what to think. The original proposition seemed to be well considered and there looked to be a plan in place to achieve. However, anyone who has applied for planning permission in the UK will know that things are never as straightforward as you might think and things can be derailed by something of seemingly little or no consequence at the outset.
The problem is how to survive this period when control of your business is in the hands of another entity (the planning authorities). How do you maintain investor confidence? How do you secure funding? It’s easy to find fault and accuse people of being foolhardy or being a ‘chancer’ with investor’s cash, but most small ventures are anything but guaranteed certainties and there is a huge element of chance associated with getting to the point where critical mass is achieved and cash starts to flow. If you’re in it’s because you wanted it to work and thought it could. Stick by your decision and ignore the naysayers who are simply here to take delight in another’s misfortune.
