For reference, the MSAR product suite is comprised of stable emulsions that flow freely at normal temperatures and don't require heating to store or pump.

School time:

Emulsions are mixtures of oil and water that don't like to mix. That's why they separate. There are certain molecules that grab on to oils on one end and water on the other end to keep them together. An example of a surfactant is soap - when you wash your greasy mits the soap lets the tap water grab onto the oil and wash it away. Surfactants allow emulsions to be completely stable.

MSAR is one such emulsion. By tweaking the ingredients in the emulsion, slightly raising or lowering the water content in response to slightly more or less viscose feedstock for example, Quadrise can create a predictable, free flowing, stable finished fuel product from crude sources that don't have any of these properties.

I think having a dedicated BDM is so important (and always was/should have been). While getting what we have already over the line is an obvious preference, the wise thing to do is to continue to fill our business pipeline as well as diversifying across regions and industries (marine, power, industrial etc). I never want to be in the situation again where we've put all our eggs in one basket, however amazing that basket seems. MSC are the world's biggest shipping company and Cargill are Cargill but I'd be more than happy with a tiny no-name shipper or power station that signs on the dotted line to buy our product and spreading the net as wide as possible is the key to getting there.

Exactly, that's what a BDM is for.

Yes, the key thing with a BDM is saying "here is our product, go find some customers for it". You wouldn't hire a BDM unless you had a final product, ready to go.

BDM for this sort of thing can be anywhere from 50k to north of 200k and whatever it is it'll include a huge chunk of performance related pay and incentives as is universal with BDM roles in every industry.

This is true. It's also the reason I'm so sceptical up their uptake of other fuels like LNG which, in the final analysis, either don't actually exist despite announcements or have either incredibly few ships and/or they just use the fuel in tiny amounts in ECAs. What *will* push marine and - especially - power is the promise of day one ROI. And this is something our product suite promises where no other future fuel does and why I'm confident we'll hop over LNG/ammonia/whatever because those things cost money and ours saves money.

Is this the LNG that Vince and HF14 are saying is pulling ahead of us as the world's preeminent future fuel? This expensive, soon to be illegal, rare to the point of non-existant nonsense?

Face it, no big company wants to be writing billion dollar cheques to 3-men-band micro companies. It stings and they don't want to believe they couldn't solve the problem themselves but for as long as Quadrise has been failing, so have the oil majors. They're right where they were when Quadrise launched MSAR all those years ago and the clock's ticking.

No argument, however it does seem to be a typo when you read the rest of the article. Significant, but probably mainly to us. It's very possible she didn't *physically* write it - she might have given an outline to a PR company to produce at different lengths for different outlets and the random outsourced writing bod made the error. I'm confident she knows we haven't set sail yet.

Middle East instability, especially the multi-year ongoing difficulties in passing the Strait of Hormuz have led to a swelling of Capesize and Supramax rates exacerbated by Brazilian iron ore and Guinean bauxite demand (destination: China). This has in turn seen a spike in Capesize second hand market values. The strong secondhand Capesize market, driven by factors like cost advantages and investor outlook, can create a dynamic where the acquisition of existing, often HFO-dependent, vessels takes precedence over the immediate adoption of more advanced and less fuel-consuming technologies. This trend could slow the decline of HFO usage leaving Quadrise alone to fill the efficiency/cost savings demand.

Tl;dr - people are using and buying more very big ships rather than newer, smaller, more advanced ships as they're made to go the long way round. These only burn HFO and can't be converted to much other than MSAR/bioMSAR.
