Of course they are comparable. If anything, Rathlin have paid out more than Egdon did, before they got the planning inspectorate decision. Have you ever looked at the expert statements required and mountain of paperwork involved? It costs a great deal of money - and the council tax payer would end up with the bill if the council planning committee refuse this application..

Feeks, one of the directors of one of the companies involved told me he was expecting costs of £600k. As it turned out the council got away with £400k. £20k is a ridiculous assertion, and you had the cheek to imply I didn't know what I was talking about!

As far as taking oil from site is concerned, of course Rathlin will pipe it if they can produce it in the quantities requiring a pipe. They would be overjoyed. But they can't commit to laying pipework without confirmation of flow rates. That would be madness. So planning permission which insisted on oil being piped from site would be pointless.

And Feeks, the only 'valid grounds' are what they turned the previous application down on - and they've been addressed. And let's face it, those 'valid grounds' would have lost if it went to the planning inspector, because they had to find a reason to turn it down which was against the advice of the council legal representative. So - not a leg to stand on.

Regarding Wressle, North Lincs Council had to pay Egdon £403k, and they got off lightly.

The road improvements and site footprint have been addressed. The planning committee do not have any grounds for refusal, and the council legal representative will make this quite clear to them. There are also a couple of councillors who are very good at explaining to the wobbly willies amongst them that it would be likely to cost the council half a million pounds. There are a couple of die-hards who will refuse, but between them they will ensure a majority vote for it. In my opinion.
We could be moving towards a serious crisis for this country, so oil and gas refusals that weaken our energy security will not be tolerated. This is bigger than local politics, and I would expect they will have received an indication of this from the Business Secretary, Kwasi Kwarteng.

They are clearly kind-hearted individuals who want to protect new investors from losing their money. You can tell what nice people they are by the friendly tone of their posts.
Personally I think their time would be better spent helping their local community in some way - perhaps picking up rubbish, giving lifts to elderly ladies, that sort of thing.
