I did buy AAL and GLEN this year and made £7K in a week - decided AAL was topping out at 700p so sold out and did not go back - AAL now about 1000P - but no regrets - it could easily have gone the other way. I think nowadays there is no skill or good research or judgement in gambling on the SM - it is all luck - if you are holding the shares when they rocket up then GL to you - if you buy at the top of the pump and dump (as most people do) you lose out big time. What did Vince Cable say "The stock market is a sleazy casino run by a bunch of very shady dealers whose only aim is to part trusting investors from their life savings !" Certainly worked for me !!! Regards - tomorrow SP will bounce back I hope - we have hit this level 7 times in the last month and bounced back so we will see what happens tomorrow - the brokers will not want to totally discourage the punters from buying these builders shares IMO

my best buy in was Rockhopper at about 30p - just before they hit oil - sold at 250p - it finally went to about 600p I think - but I was happy with my gain. Biggest mistake was selling BARC (£40K) the day before trading results - thought it would tank - SP went UP 18% !!!!! Pity BARC is so dead in the water this year ! Over the 45 years I am about £35K down - but SM gambling is my only expensive hobby - LOL. had a bit of luck recently - LLOY called me up to say they mis-sold me a product back in 2009 - refunded me £1750 - very decent of them ! The £1750 included interest on £1300 lost on a duff investment recommended by LLOY staff so overall I was in profit ! Swings and roundabouts ! Regards and GL

SP holding up OK - over the last 45 years of gambling on the SM I have made some spectacular gains and losses - especially on AIM shares - 2% down is quite mild for me - LOL. As I do not intend to sell before Xmas at least, the daily moves are a bit academic for me ! The main thing for me at the mo is safety - with the builders trading at about 25% off recent highs i think my cash is quite safe in BDEV - made £5k off buying and selling SOU but am out now as there are too many cheap shares overhanging the present SP - I will wait and if the SOU SP goes up past 100p again I will buy back in but for the mo all my cash is in BDEV. noggers - not just the builders !!! Must be our friend Carney dumbing down the UK again - the sooner he goes the better. The gov of the Bank should not be dabbling in politics the way he does - I am sure he is meant to be independent ! Our PM is also doing untold damage by not triggering Article 50 - the SM does not like uncertainty and neither do the world wide financiers ! regards

Noggers - I think most investors this year have had a roller coaster ride ! i made good profits on AAL but lost on BARC etc. presently down about £18k on the year - BDEV is my only share now until the present financial hysteria (totally unjustified IMO) goes away. BREXIT has NOT happened - we have not even called Article 50 and yet the talking heads are all talking down the UK - sulky Remain politicians are attacking UK interests and Queen Nicky of Scotland is whinging on about Scots independence ! She should be told that there are only 5 million Scots in UK from a population of 65 million and Sturgeon is a Norman French name (means fish monger) I am part McDonald which clan ruled Scotland for a long time before the Stuarts took over ! Scotland united with England under James 6 of Scotland because Scotland was bankrupt and needed rich England to bail them out - nothing has changed IMO - Nicky is overspent this year by £5 billion ! Rant over - a famous man once said "We do not require politicians to do great good for the world we just require them to do as little evil as possible !" Regards and GL with your own plans

just back from shopping - ref your question - ! bought back in at 471p and will hold till at least 30% up ! I have been foolishly trusting in BARC from Jan this year and lost about £18K - I thought it was a rerun of 2009 when BARC went from about 50p to 250p in 12 months ! I now think BARC, LLOY and RBS are dead ducks and have sold out the BARC shares before the BREXIT vote - bought back in after the vote but I should have been in BDEV or AAL - I called the BREXIT vote right and was all in cash just before 23 Jun - the BB thought I was crazy to believe that the UK could vote for BREXIT - someone said they had a £50K bet on REMAIN ! IMO the big miners are topping out now but the house builders have lots of headroom for the SP to grow - particularly as the govt is planning more stimulus to the housing market.- time will tell. is a cruel thing ! Back in 2010 my son in law and I identified BDEV as a great investment - SP down from 225p to about 110p - unfortunately the SP swooped down to 70p and we decided to bang out and try other shares - I had £40k in BDEV at av 100p so lost about £12K in selling - if I had held on - even at today's SP the value would be about £192K !!!! I am holding now with £40K invested and will hold long term. Regards all and GL with your own plans

I have never been a fan of dividend payments - all they do is give you back your own money as the SP drops by the same amount on ex div day - you may also need to pay tax if the div is big enough. I would rather the BOD invested spare cash in the co or did a buy back of shares - thus increasing the SP. All IMOO ! SP doing well last few days with lots more to come ! Regards all and GL

RBS facing two major lawsuits in UK and USA which potentially will cost billions and is on course for another 5 billion loss this year on normal operations yet the SP goes up 3% today !!! Go with the flow - RBS best performing bank so far today. Regards and GL to all shareholders

I am not invested here but in reply to your Q - recent experience of a share consolidation led to a freeze on trading for 3 days while brokers adjusted their data - you may find you have zero shares now - do not worry - it will be sorted by weekend. Regards

lots of people been caught that way (including me) - never try to catch a falling knife ! The more you buy on the down the more your loss increases ! Regards

BOD games costing PIs mega bucks again - look at the effect that cheap share sales have had on BARC, SOLG, REM SPs - we are stuffed ! Best to wait until SP stabilises then accept losses and try again somewhere else ! Regards all - I am down about £1500 !

two months ago I was advising friends to keep an eye on ATUK - good for a gamble - unfortunately I got diverted into SOLG and REM so I took my eye off the ATUK ball ! Now that SOLG and REM have crashed back I have recently bought into ATUK and results so far are great ! I am also in ORE. Regards all and GL with your own plans.

Daily Mail report that SAGE being looked at for a takeover bid at 450P a share - I am surprised that there is little reaction here or in the SP ! Regards all - hope the rumour is true !
