If it reverts to its previous dividend at Fridays price it would work out at 12%.
Any reason why it wouldn't?

I am thinking I may sell a dud in my isa and buy bank of Georgia. Dirt cheap. If it reverts to its previous divided based on Fridays price it would be a 12% dividend.
Anyone think of reason why not??

This is an international trust. The shares they own will be effected by the interest rates in those countries where the companies are domicilled. Hence the only the NAV will hold up the share price might not ie a greater discount.

Up 41% from March 2020. Still on a near 5% discount. Greater than its 3.5% 12 month average.

Not sure about "year on year" but this year's final dividend "should " have that effect. Got to be worth a 20% rise from the present share price.

I wonder how long gas and oil can hold its price specially as at this price I think it may result in a recession. On the other hand DECs hedging will at least give adequate protection for at least one year. Those who like the sector may Start buying DEC pushing up the price. I am probably in for 12 months. Selling next year to move money into an isa. I am at last in profit share price wise despite the rip off 20% share price give away.

The 90% figure comes from Georgia capital own site.
You are right they astonishingly cheap.
I have yet to invest.
I sold some shares on the 15th from my sipp as I don't have to pay tax on them.
But the way Hargreaves Lansdown work I had to sell by the 17th to take money out before the 6th April. I want to put the money into my isa and buy Georgia capital. As you can see Georgia capital has gone up and no doubt the shares I sold have also gone up....annoying. although I am making assumptions about what will happen between now and the 6th April. Either way I will still buy Georgia capital. Bugger!

Pity I can't get in till the new tax year, as I expect it will have recovered. Possibly 700p.
I think instead of buying back shares all the time paying, a dividend would do more for the share price.
My main worry with this company is, according to CGEO 90% of the shares are owned by institutions. The shares being bought and cancelled are probably coming from retail investors.
Possibility of going private.

Because the market is not logical. Sooner (hopefully) or later reality dawns, almost certainly when the final dividend is announced.

Are you hoping to get back in at lower price? Assuming you were in in the first place.
Although the whole world can read this, it's highly unlikely that sufficient numbers will read (with there eyes) this. for you to force the price down.
Thus resulting in a fall in the share price.

10% discount at the moment. NAV holding up well. Up 36% February 9th still up 30%.
Definitely a great diversifier!!

Ouch painful made worse by having no more money left.

I am far from certain about that. Putin has great deal of support in Russia.
Ukraine appears to be unable to take advantage of a 40 mile convoy.
Look what happened in the first Iraq war. The allies destroyed completely the iraq convoy attempting to escape.
This points to Ukraine losing while giving Russia a bloody nose.
Putin will loose support, as this is basically a war between Putin and Ukraine, not Russia and Ukraine.
but that might not be enough to remove him.
