Please forgive this unsolicited email, but, I would like to share with you an email I sent yesterday to my MP, Jeff Smith, with regards to the Innova lateral flow test. As a UK taxpayer and supporter of the UK diagnostics industry, I am appalled at the treatment of cutting edge UK diagnostic companies such as Omega Diagnostics, Mologic, Avacta Group, Hughes Healthcare and Abingdon Healthcare, when compared to the ‘red carpet’ treatment afforded to the Innova Medical Group. The email I sent to Mr Smith relates to new proposed legislation with regard to the future validation of UK lateral flow tests, which again favours Innova over our own UK diagnostics companies. I am a private citizen, with no connections to the media. Please feel free to share, publish, distribute, or edit the email I sent to Mr Smith, in whatever way you see fit. You have my absolute permission. The more people we can make aware of this the better.

Martin, pleasure to meet you. Ironically, I was sent another copy of this email yesterday along with the relevant web links that the email references. I was very pleased to help by posting a copy of the email yesterday, however, for some unknown reason the post has been deleted from my feed this evening! I will certainly be happy to re post it as I couldn’t agree more with the content. When Boris announced the Gov initiative to run testing alongside the vaccination program, we were of course in complete agreement however, that only works of course, if you use clinically proven ACCURATE tests, capable of detecting both symptomatic and asymptomatic cases. Innova is NOT fit for purpose!! Of course, I will be biased and claim that our test is perfect for the job in hand, however, there are also a select few other tests out there (Avacta etc) that thoroughly deserve to knock Innova off it’s perch! Thanks for sharing this with me. The testing in the Phase 4 study was actually done by members of staff at test-and-trace centres. Calling them “training members of the public” is rather disingenuous and has been corrected in the recent eClinicalMedicine publication of this study. Also, the data from the Liverpool study are relevant, which had a sensitivity of just 40%.

I am making efforts to encourage people to use this letter as a template to send a message to their own constituency MP's, to make them aware of what can only be described as a scandal happening before their very eyes and yet not seeing any light of day.
