Putting the finishing touches to my request to MP's to amend proposed legislation to exclude the exemption clause from the proposed new legislation.

Need a bit of help.
The above govt webpage says the following:
"Separately, the DHSC is also publishing a threshold paper setting out performance expectations for testing for COVID-19. The performance thresholds set out in this paper [link] are used as the framework for the new laws on the validation of tests."
It says [link], but gives no link.
Anybody come across this 'threshold paper setting out performance expectations'?

I suggest Bighero sticks to knocking out chicken tikka masalas (or is it beef chow mein this week?). Far too aloo GOBI for me.

Good point @Sorcerer. This was also a standout for me today. I once paid privately for some tests at the Spire Hospital, including one or two of the targets AS mentioned - C-Reactive-Protein, for example. Currently, you have to wait several days for results and the costs of these tests are anything from £50-£100 a pop. This is a huge market going forward.

Careless / naïve use of the term 'coming months'. Even if that does include next month, 'in the near term' would have been a lot smarter choice. Hopefully, we'll get some clarification in the next hour. Looks like panic over now.

The recent "Laboratory Test Validation Services" tender (closed 20/05/21), suggests that Porton Down is being sidelined as these new validation services are being farmed out to private enterprise.

I have about 4 different govt web pages open in Chrome. Haven't had time to read them all, will catch up at weekend.
However, this is the page that summarises the current situation regarding 'draft' legislation:

If the new legislation is passed, they do have it in black and white:

"Tests currently supplied to the NHS under DHSC procurement will be exempted in recognition of prior equivalent assessment."

That's why I think a campaign targeted at our MP's should focus on tabling an amendment to the Bill, to remove this exemption status from the new legislation (on the basis of it creating a non level playing field). The work AgentB has already put in, would form an excellent basis for such a request. That way, not only do we inform our MP's about this outrageous situation, we also give them a route to do something about it. This is my homework for the weekend.

What do you mean, there's zero chance of exemption, they already have it in black and white.

Some people warn against encouraging criticism of Innova LFT's, citing that it causes collateral damage to LFT's in general. I don't take that view. I think the greater the stink that can be created around the Innova test, the better. The most important thing right now, is to put the govt under as much pressure as possible regarding the 'not fit for purpose' Innova LFT. The DT article posted earlier being a great example.

Sure, they'll be collateral damage, but I think we should cross the 'differentiation' bridge when we've finally got Innova taken off the table. It wouldn't take much of marketing genius to differentiate new/good LFT's from the rubbish that we've had to put up with. We might have to lose this small battle to win the bigger war.
