Not regarding the bigger picture it does'nt. Why the hell would it? The most important point is this: until the threat of this strike is sorted out once and for all, with a mutually secured agreement that is, then these big swings in the s.p will carry on, indefinitely, year after year. Do you honestly think that the very real possibility of a massive and crippling strike is not the main reason for the s.p languishing where it presently is? Unless these two opposing ideologies, which are oceans apart, can come together in a coalition that is both productive AND mindful of keeping everyone in full time work...then this will be like ground hog day: it will just keep going on and on and on; or maybe until the Royal Mail says: to hell with it!! lets get it on and sort it all out once and for all. But, of course, it will then not be just a five year plan...it will be a generation, at the very least, before the Royal Mail can perhaps get back to what it currently is: the market leader. You takes your choice, Fruitster, but I tell you this much: if this strike develops into an "all out, brothers"...you just will not believe, until you see it in the media, the devastation this will cause. And whether you or anyone else cares to believe that or not...I just could not care less.
