Traumakine gets its own research, I think urgently because the need is huge.

I agree Itsall , I was also fuming yesterday .

I would have loved Markku to have done an interview and put the record straight .
However , picking through the RNS , it should give us hope that we were not really part of this bit of result sharing.
But it was the way they just thew it out there - Faron obviously haven't been given any more details than us, as even they were not told how many , if any of the patients were given I/V .
They just had to surmise that it wasn't many , if any at all , as their records show that by the end date of the results timeframe , they hadn't shipped much out .

But like you say , it wouldn't have been that hard to keep Faron in the loop ??

Its still all to play for with IFN Beta1a - I'm in SNG too , and they certainly haven't thrown the towel in .
The steroid business is obviously a factor when you deliver through the bloodstream . Not an issue for them apparently , but its not something that would stop us , just something that has to be taken into account and managed . We've known that for years .

It's all about timing , and delivery method .

It's like giving a robot instructions how to light a bonfire . Strike a match and throw it at the fire . It's not that simple .

The full story will emerge eventually , with the monotherapy results , REMAP etc .

For the time being we will have to grit our teeth , and wait for the truth to out.

The WHO reports that patients mainly received subcutaneous IFN beta-1a (Rebif, Merck KGaA). At the time of the data-cut for this analysis, Traumakine, the Company's intravenous (iv) formulation of IFN beta-1a, became available very late in the observation period and it is the Company's understanding it had seldom been used. The WHO has not been able to verify how many patients received Traumakine at the time of this analysis

This was the main reason for the RNS yesterday - and what probably saved us from being 30-35% down on the day .

Its a shame that none of the media reports mentioned it , they just condemned IFN Beta1a as if it was just a one fits all treatment . Admittedly some did mention the possible effectiveness for patients pre hospitalisation ( Inhaled ? ) , but I suppose for a reporter who's been asked to cut a paste a 200 word article for a website or newspaper , they don't have time or in depth knowledge to expand as to the differences between injected/I/V , and how when a patient is severely ill , the intravenous route of delivery is critical to rapidly reach the endothelium .
They could have written that there is a big difference in the routes of administering this therapy , and that the purpose of intravenous administered IFN-beta is to maximise bioavailability of the drug at the lung vasculature, as well as other vascular beds. And that this is hardly achieved with subcutaneous dosing in critically ill patients.
But they didn't , but not to worry , we at least know we are still on the right path .

There seems to be a question mark over the protocols being used in Solidarity .
Nothing has been published - so we can only guess .
Presumably , Faron have been sending out their drug to those trial hospitals who request it . Up to the point where these results have been posted , they hadn't sent much for use , as the Solidarity trial had been working on the use of Injected IFN Beta 1a , which was being trialed as a combi addition to Remdesivir etc .
As it is an adaptive trial , it slowly started to filter in that these combis weren't making much headway , so they started to get pulled , although IFN Beta1a got to continue as a monotherapy . Presumably they are doing this as injected , but also now giving Faron some space at the table with their I/V therapy . This was all in the news a month odd ago , but obviously you need to get 2 or 3 months further down the road to see any results . So what we saw yesterday was the results from the earlier part of the year .
Surely , when the results come in from the monotherapy , if the injected and I/V are lumped in as one , then Faron or the peer review will have to pick it apart . I really can't see them lumping them again - but then again it is the WHO .

Regarding Steroids , it seems that ( at least with these results ) there was no separate domain trial for steroid/non steroid patients . The WHO seemed contradictory after first publishing data advising against their use for Covid , then advising for their use . Almost irrelevant anyway for these results as Faron weren't involved , and nobody from Merck was posting up warnings .
The WHO's weakness in the trial in some ways was that to get it out quickly to so many countries and underfunded hospitals was they had to make the trials simple , and easy , with as little cost/paperwork as possible . Hence no big complicated protocols - just get patients .

REMAP - should ( I pray) be a much more controlled and professionally run trial .
They have plenty of detailed protocols for each domain .
Faron have their own I/V domain - so not being lumped in with injected , and they also will have another domain for patients using steroids . The protocol for Immune modulation states specifically that -
'Intention to prescribe systemic corticosteroids for any reason, other than participation in the Corticosteroid Domain of this platform, will result in exclusion from receiving IFN-ß1a '

When the dust settles , I think we will come out of this knee jerk pullback ok .
As Jedi just posted , already before any peer review , experts are adding their opinions and starting to unpick the detail of todays announcement .
And as Markku states - nothing has been discovered that we didn't already know - that injected is less effective than I/V , and that steroids will void the efficacy .

But it does feel like we've all been tarred with a large brush today - with no chance to speak up in our defense .

Personally I was well hacked off that the WHO threw this announcement out , with no added caviat that Faron were basically not involved in this trial up to this point - having not issued out hardly any of their I/V drug . That chained us to the sinking ship today . The RNS did actually state the truth about things ,but it was a bit like shutting the door after the horse had bolted .
I mean its not as if there are 30 different drugs still involved , it basically just us and a few more novel therapies .

Anyway - the science will get us there in the end , but they sure don't make it easy for us shareholders .

Drug developer Faro’s share price had plummeted 20 percent on Friday as the WHO announced the results of a Solidarity study yesterday. According to the WHO, the drugs included in the study did not show a clear effect in the hospitalization of covid-19 patients.

Faro announced his own views on the study on Friday afternoon. Traumakine, who was included in the Solidarity study, joined the study late and, in the company's view, for a small number of patients. According to the company, the findings of the study are also based more on the interferon of the pharmaceutical company Merck involved in the study than on the interferon of Faro.

According to Faron, Merck's Rebif treatment, or IFN beta-1a given under the skin, may produce different results than Faron's Traumakine treatment, or IFN beta-1a given intravenously.

According to Faro's CEO Markku Jalkanen, Merck's product is slowly dissolving. In Jalkanen's opinion, the only sensible way to give a similar type of Traumakine medicine to crisis patients is intravenously, in which case the effect of the drug is more than 150 times, according to Jalkanen.

“The findings of the WHO study on the ineffectiveness of the drugs studied do not directly concern us, but in particular another similar drug. We do not have direct information on how much Traumakine has been used, but Traumakine has had little use during the period studied on the basis of our own deliveries, ”Jalkanen commented to Kauppalehti.

Maybe today was an planned job to allow all us LTH's to get some of our own options at or near their £3.44 .

Traumakine hardly used if at all in these results from WHO , and 50% of them were on steroids which Faron have made known would void any true result - so thank goodness we are now just in as a monotherapy .

Like someone mentioned earlier , although your own trials cost alot more , at least you are in control of them .

Luckily we didn't give Clevegen to the WHO to fart about with too !

I also agree with an earlier poster that their PR could be a bit better , to lay down some facts about where and when Traumakine is being used , so that this first set of results ( which we didn't actually seem to be part of ) didn't scare people away - when it isn't really Faron news .

As far as I can see - they report is talking about the combinations of antivirals with or without Interferon .
We sort of knew this anyway - hence why Interferon was being continued as a monotherapy as well.
But the Remdesivir horse is now out of the race .
And it was only a two horse race

EU just ordred half a million treatments of Remdesivir - I think at a cost of 1 billion euro .

No read everything in detail , but as far as I can see - its talking about the repurposed anti virals .

We are still ongoing as a monotherapy - it was pretty much known that we didn't help these anti virals as a combi - and they didn't work well on their own , hence why Interferons were added to the mix to try and give them some purpose .

Bad news for the Anti virals - not sure it changes anything for us

We were not a repurposed drug - we were designed for this .

And judging by the £80 million placing at SNG - Interferon Beta 1a is gaining speed .

I see your point Cov , I just see options as part of salary - like a bonus . Every BOD expect them .
If the company does well , the SP rises and they benefit , and so do we .
If they F*ck it up , and the SP goes to £1 - they won't be much use .
Its just housekeeping . Nothing else to release at the moment as they are either waiting on results or building a masterplan ( ala SNG )
Compare dto SNG - who are proposing to dilute the shares by over 1/3rd , Faron have worked hard this year at gaining funding through grants , and soft loans , so looking after the shareholders rather than massive dilutions .

I suppose its just the nature of public companies . If it was a private company , they would be making all the profit and we wouldn't even get a look in lol .

Very happy with this - strengthened their hand immensely .
Plus all good news on talks with regulators - FDA well on board now .

Good to see another company with Interefon making some forward moves - bodes well for us hopefully , if investors see the progress made with Sinairgens drug in discussions with regulators etc .
Massive £80 + million placing to proceed to phase III trial in 20 countries with their IFN Beta1a .

It's something that many overlook , me included , as to how much money Faron have saved by being run on two phase III trials almost for free compared to what it would have cost to go it alone . That would have involved a massive placement , or a dilution of ownership , and would have taken many months or even years longer to get us to where we are today .

Every company had option plans - fully visible and above board - good way to incentivize the team .
The last big options were at about £1 , so these will raise over 3 times the amount , about £2.5 million pounds .
Good to see some going to the SAB board , who certainly deserve them .

You want to see some other companies and how they take the p1ss , I've seen options being granted at 1p before - absolutely criminal .

Just out of curiosity , I googled the contact name on the Texas trial site : Sukeshi Patel Arora

Turns out she is a very well regared doctor , specialising in Liver Cancer ( hepatocellular carcinoma) which is one of the cohorts of the Clevegen program .
She and her team were recognised in 2019 for their efforts with a Clinical Investigator of the Year award .

So a perfect choice for one arm of the next phase trials .
