Longtimeinvestor - the legal prose you have quoted applies to immigration and not to asylum. They are two very different things legally.

Yep, sales falling short of expectations by a little + costs higher than previously anticipated, and market share slightly down (versus prevous results to this one).

Reasoning:

Sales have still not yet picked up enough following lots of capex. Increased defaults by customers not paying DD's. Lots of narrative on how sales are expected to pickup in future results. Some vague narrative on BT planning sell offs for component parts of the business which are profitable.

I think SP will be down as investors will feel there's too little information in the results and vague timelines for the asset sales and what exactly how investors will be rewarded. Lots of talk about futures and guarding against forwarx market turbulence too.

Seeking asylum and migrating are two very different things.

Yes, a migrant cannot enter without a valid passport and visa documentation too.

However, an asylum seeker is not the same as a migrant because asylum seekers need to be on UK soil to apply and they may be doing so fleeing political persecution, threat to life... e.g. a Russian citizen fleeing the Kremlin to seek asylum in the UK.

BielsaBall2021 - the costs you quote there are the costs as a result of the Tory failure to properly process applications and that's because when properly process and either granted or denied they would then either be deported or allowed to work & pay taxes just like everyone else. However, Tories actively chose to not process them and that's why the costs reached such epically high levels. It was a political choice by the Tory party to accumulate a mess for the next party inheriting No.10 from them and to walk away via calling an early snap election, basically because they could not carry on with the £2.7 Trillion debt they had accumulated and the decay/neglect they had inflicted through failure to properly invest.

1msn - there's simply no such thing as illegal migration because anyone can seek asylum to have their application processed and yes it can then be declined but until it's been processed a person has the right to submit and have it processed.

It's also the case that clamp downs on migration are simply bad for business too. Employers need to be able recruit talent from all walks of life and the most thriving western economies have always been hugely successful precisely because of migration and movement of people to learn, live, love & pay their taxes via being mobile to look for work in many different places throughout ones lifetime. Most importantly it's key for education, healthcare and anything highly specialised including the high tech industries & engineering too.

If Trump does indeed clamp down on migration then longer term it'll just lead to business having less choices and people having fewer opportunities too and eventually the economy loses out in a big way through effective stagnation and lack of churn + development.

The whole ideology being pushed on migration is epically flawed. How do I know this? Because it's been tried in USA before in history and it didn't work.
