I don't necessarily think things will settle down post budget. Bank of England is still holding rates too high IMO and I think the sell off, albeit gradual, will not let up soon.

In the last set of results BT had posted a small reduction in its market share ~32% from memory (I have not looked to check this figure)... anyways in this next set of results where do folks think BT will be in terms of market share? Will we see improvements? Will altnets cut into BT? Or will whole market growth mean the net effect is little changed?

The CEO posts lovely prose and all but on the sidelines and out of the view of many he presses ahead with disposing of the few good elements CPI has left and is therefore shrinking the business you all have shares invested in.

Utterly delusional... CPI has falling sales, swelling costs and is only surviving by selling off more of it's component parts to stay afloat... thereby becoming a smaller sized business with each results update.

Shareholders will be left holding in their hands millions of shares in a much smaller business operating with a loss generating business model.

That's right Pokerchump - From the 100% of my accumulated BT holdings I recently sold off ~93% of the shares. I opted to hang onto the remaining ~7% for sentimental purposes (well, for very long term hold and to collect divi's tbh) - I did this because I had confidence that if I did not sell them then I would have imminently been watching my healthy accumulated profits undergo sublimation!

LWHL - RR new fiscal borrowing rules/methodology makes a lot more sense tbf... as with money borrowed/invested to purchase infrastructure and things which provide a return and which are assets makes a lot of sense. Devil is in the fine print though and she's not yet published that so we'll just have to wait and see tomorrow!

LWHL - One item I agree with you on "at 22 billion quid carbon capture 'initiative'" you mentioned there looks as though it'll end up being poor value for money. Even with being a cost spread over many years it's still an unproven technology. They'd have been best off putting that cash into something considerably safer/proven right now.

Budget tomorrow is going to be painful stuff, bigger black hole than anyone will be expecting combined with punishing tax rises thanks to 14yrs of accumulated Tory Chaos; Britain really is a broken nation but... Labour will steady the ship & rebuild ; that's the predictable message to emerge from the floor of the HOC tomorrow.

So what does this mean for BT and UK equities? Personally, I don't think the budget will offer anything calming but I think it won't especially trigger a wild sell of either. Far more likely is it kicking off a gradual month or so long slow burn sell off, with the main FTSE indices experiencing a 10% market correction, the gravity of the situation will take time to fully sink in. All IMO.

So interesting AimMaster2018 - You finally came to the conclusion which I came to a long while back and subsequently sold up your holdings...

You've had a lucky escape IMO because I think we're headed for a market correction territory which I don't think will calm down post budget and CPI could easily become a casualty IMO as it's blatantly overspending on its cost cutting, it's staff must be completely demoralised with seeing no pay rewards and CPI is clearly falling well short when it comes to clinching lucrative sales too - far too few sales numbers in the last update which I expect will get much worse when they report the next set of figures.

How long until AH taps investors for more cash to fund his adventures? Or until he sells off another limb of the business and shrinks its overall size?
