P.s I was talking about the pubs that haven't yet closed down - many have thrown in the towel already after the last clobbering they took with the minimum wage and national insurance hikes.

A pint of beer at £5-6 sounds cheap- its £7 now in some UK pubs round where I live thanks to Rachel Reeves. I agree the bread sounds very expensive. On the other hand my better half only buys sourdough bread, so it's cheap compared to that !

Why don't you try to educate yourself by reading the Dawn Sturgess Inquiry report on the death of Dawn Sturgess by novichok poisoning in Salisbury on 8 July 2018 ? It is 178 pp long, and was written by a former Supreme Court judge , Lord Hughes. It was published today by the Home Office. If you don't want to read all of it you can skip to the conclusions on p.123. When you have done that, you can come back on here and tell us which bits of it you disagree with.

Mike JE- Krainer's book 'The Grand Deception' claims that Bill Browder and his lawyer Serge Magnitsky's story is a ' hoax' and a 'deception'. Frankly, if you believe that you will believe anything. 35 countries have implemented Magnitsky Acts . I doubt they would have named the legislation after Browder's lawyer if there was any doubt whatsoever about the facts of what happened.

Further to nikb's interesting comments on Russia's damaged facilities and failing economy I was struck by this comment yesterday from Sir Bill Browder : ' What motivates Putin right now is staying alive. To stay alive he needs to stay in power. And to stay in power he needs to be at war'. An Interesting take from someone who will certainly be well known to people in the Trump administration.

Big Red- its possible that an announcement by NAV on a Thursday might not get picked up in an RNS in London until 7.00am on a Friday. So in those circs you might know ahead of an official announcement by RKH on the AIM market.

I can't say I'm much concerned about the timing. Personally I feel confident it's in the bag.

The announcement will originate from Nav who of course are not bound by AIM rules but we can assume they will tell RKH simultaneously who will then inform the AIM RNS without delay. We don't know to what extent NAV would think it necessary to co-ordinate timing to fit in with F.I. election arrangements. Perhaps in the end we will find out from another news provider before we find out from an RNS.

While it might be fair to F. islanders if the announcement were made in the afternoon the fact is that announcements are made between 7.00am and 1.30pm on AIM's RNS service. Any announcement made outside those hours will only be posted on the next available business day -typically at 7.00am.

I don't see any reason why an announcement couldn't be made on a Friday- the obligation on the company is to make an announcement 'as soon as possible' on any matter that might affect the share price.

For the same reason I don't agree that the weeks starting 22 and 29 Dec are out- AIM is only closed for 2 days during that period viz Christmas Day and Boxing Day - and it's open for half days on Christmas Eve and 31 Dec.

Anyway, GLA. It would be nice to have some extra -special news to celebrate over the Christmas period !

Just checked- The Office of Budget Responsibility now expect 120,000 fewer EV sales over the next 5 years than previously forecast as a result of the pay-per-mile scheme. It doesn't say in this latest updated OBR report what percentage drop that is, relative to its previous forecast.

I see post-budget comment by OBR says the pay-per-mile scheme will result in 440,000 fewer electric car sales ' across the forecast period relative to the pre-measures forecast' ( Sorry, I can't find what the forecast period was and haven't got time to look). OBR however has upgraded its estimates of increased sales due to existing grants ( including discounts and grants for charging ) from 130,000 to 320,000- so the NET reduction in expected EV sales is 120,000 over the period. I wonder if Ed Milibrain signed off on this.
