They have not released the accounts nor specified what measure they are using for profit. I am confident it will not be net income or free cash flow.

That doesn't mean I see Revolut as a negative for the portfolio. They are aiming to be a SuperApp like WeChat, which is the way to understand their business rather than comparing them to other banks.

Do you not think Manna have a business plan or indeed Google with Wing?

Manna believe their market will be suburban areas, where the economics of van delivery don't stack up and add to the traffic.

At the end of the day it's a stock with a high degree of uncertainty because it is full of companies trying not just to make products but markets for products.

It's hard to find details about the Microsoft issue and reasons behind.

The Azure cloud made Graphcore IPUs available in 2019 and they are also a strategic investor here. The Azure cloud hosts multiple GPUs such as the Nvidia ones. So possibly it wasn't worth MS while continuing to host them.

However, there are difficulties involved in getting started with AI chips on Azure and Graphcore have engaged with other public cloud providers like Tencent, Paperspace and GCore.

The talk is of developing European tech capabilities in cloud and AI and this is very much an EU project to detach from dependence on US tech companies like MS and Nvidia.

MS were just making the Graphcore chips available but AI techies don't necessarily see Azure as the optimal solution for training and running AI models. It is expensive to use and the charges can be opaque.

Graphcore don't claim to be competing with Nvidia. They say they wouldn't be able to. They are looking to be the chip and software stack of choice for AI computes that are overly expensive or not possible to run on Nvidia chips. So they are carving out a niche for themselves by differentiating their tech from Nvidia.

Whether or not they will be successful who knows. The job cuts seem par for the course as their peer Habana Labs (Intel owned) have just announced dozens of job losses.

With Graphcore my concern is their close links with supplying China, which will likely cause them to be left out of any funding coming out of the US Chips Act. That may be another reason why the MS issue has arisen.

If they could capture just 1% of the AI market by 2025 that would be $1bn in revenue.
