I think following the activities of the companies adds a bit of colour to the picture.

I really have not found many nasties in there. Pollen was one. They recently went bust but weren't a core holding.

Many of the earlier stage holdings seem to be very credible businesses that are involved in problem solving in various industries.

I see that UI Path had a pre- earnings statement this week announcing non GAAP profit. They were planning to achieve the metric by the end of their financial year but have made it in the 2nd year.

They had a $300m Series D funding round back in April, which it looks like MV didn't take part in, although a £3m investment through Earlybird West in one Football is mentioned in an RNS from 2019.

Other investors include the top 12 biggest clubs (although most of these came on board through the acquisition of another business) and the German FA who recently invested.

Whilst some revenue will arise from pay per view, the bulk would be from targeting adds at users who can be easily segmented by their affiliations and influenced when they are feeling emotional about the footie. Various endorsements from advertisers like Sky, VW and Hyundai with Coca-Cola and Adidas also using it.

As well as streaming rights and football news the company recently launched Serie A football clip NFTs, as part of a broader push to use blockchain technology to promote football to Generation Z.

I have started to see crypto and other blockchain products as closer to the gambling and entertainment industries than investing.

I don't think they are going to go away anytime soon. Sports like horse racing and football exist and flourish without serving any useful purpose other than to titillate and provide opportunities for betting.

People can hold their crypto on an exchange acting as a custodian. However several like have shown themselves to be untrustworthy and their are concerns about others.
Alternatively, people can take charge of their own crypto on the Ledger hardware wallets. Ledger are having their marketing done for them by many crypto pundits telling people to get their tokens off exchanges and onto hardware wallets like Ledger and Trezor.

I think we need IPO markets to open again. I think it won't be too long before investors get their appetite back.
