More generally on Covid 19 it seems there may be antibody treatments coming on line and available in mid April. It seems inoculations with The TB vaccine is efficacious, anti body and antigen tests will become widely available, Chloroquine and the HIV antivirals together with an effective antibiotic going through trials. So for now it’s about buying time, my view we should have bought more earlier. The sooner you prevent 2 or more to the power 64 the more you save, exponential natural growth being what it is.

Indeed dreamy, my mate’s wife works as a manager at a Sainsburys; she is getting loads of abuse, works hard and actually sees herself as doing something vety important at the moment and do gets into work with a sense of urgency. She is very strict I. The rationing with people and had banned 30 so far, when they threaten etc. She is one of a number of people we absolutely rely on. And she gets lots of exposure....

I suspect the expected Wres production update has caused that.

Chloroquine which was withdrawn from sale or export a month ago is being taken as a maintenance dose by VIPs with the virus. You certainly couldn’t buy it all of a sudden with stocks withheld, I know I could not get hold of any. If taken early or as preventative it has an effect on the virus. I should think our PM that said only those with more serious symptoms gets tests, similarly got some of the withdrawn choloroquine. This is not an age of political heroes, but it is one one medical heroes.

Hongkong has done well considering the exposure levels and living conditions, they do all have the bcg there. Perhaps a little ray of hope from that.Another tool to use. Agree inki. An epidemic in one form or another has been coming for sometime. covid 19 has been staring the govt in the eyeballs since January ( they were scientifically advised). In February one anonymous senior Conservative reported Cummings as saying: “He's gone from 'herd immunity and let the old people die' to 'let's shut down the country and the economy'.” So the chief adviser to the PM, was early on saying, in essence, to let it happen- before reversing on that. Given the scientific advice to prepare was in January and we ordered the ventilators last week, scientific and medical experts across the world are saying we should have shut down a week earlier, it does imho not indicate the govt have done very well. Bungled and reactive and by no means proactive, ind you it is better than some places USA. In so much as our govt is now doing something I do support them in that,. however, to my sorrow I think they could have acted a lot earlier. Perhaps it is that it will not be too bad and they are doing wonderfully well. I knew that we should have acted earlier, I cannot believe that were not informed.
On a more positive note it appears the old TB bcg jab infers some level of protection in that enables the immune system - they have found it causes it to be more effective against viruses and thus appears to be the case for covid19. So the USA are considering giving it again to healthcare workers, and vulnerable groups as a starter. Thinking about that it might explain why some places seem to be doing better than others, did Italians all get the jab like many of us at school in the UK? The sooner treatments and things that help come along the better.

Positivity starts to shine. Cuba sending doctors and nurses to Italy, all respect to them. After the way the west has treated them for years -they were driven into the arms of the Russians because of the embargoes and subsequent shortages. They developed their health system without western technology and have come up with some fantastic low tech remedies and therapies. Noe they send us Europeans help. Goodness prevails. Well done Cuba.

Fran there is a best case scenario if people comply with measures. On Friday night in Hornchurch the restaurants and pubs were full, getting them in before the shut down. I have been isolated in so much as I can for over two weeks now. There are belle-ends that take a lot of convincing, in my view they need to be very informed of potential worst outcomes.
If someone gets bad, if they got an overwhelmed hospital the cannot be saved, which I know is obvious but is a strong view I hold.

Yep Andy, I would accept I can wrong, but I am treating it as a worst case that helps my family and others too I think. One good thing is the community spirit and the good shining through, there are stories of horrid people, but they are the minority. On our stree Facebook a lady said, I ain’t got a lot of toilet rolls but if somebody’s desperate I will share, shopping offers and all sorts. Personally, I am humbled by nhs staff.’police, supermarket workers, etc. I feel quite ashamed to not be doing something. I ain’t I. A position to go much at the moment, but if the chance comes I will.
