Trek, I agree the price inequality between prepaid and direct debit is scandalous! It’s a shame as I believe there are many people who would prefer the pay as you go system (even over smart meters) in order to keep a tighter control on their outgoings, especially with a recession looming and recent energy price fluctuations.
A homeowner friend of mine once allowed five Eastern European work colleagues to live with him very cheaply and prepaying for electricity was the only way he could ensure they wouldn’t exploit his goodwill!

I don’t know how much this applies to Paypoint but interesting news recently about increasing numbers of pay as you go energy meters being installed:

For a case study of what happens, try googling “ann summers cva”. Similar sized business with equivalent number of shops, online and niche market. Came out of the cva and returned to strong profit earlier this year.

Encouraging results from Superdry today likely having something to do with the uptick.

You think Joules wants to get a CVA agreed because Interpath Advisory are assisting the board? That’s quite an assumption. I might be wrong but I think Mr Joules might have too much pride in the family business to let things degenerate that far.

I’m keeping these in the middle drawer. Confident it’ll hit new all time highs within 5 years and planning to average down and sell a few as sentiment changes and results provide a clearer picture. I must be in a minority thinking the WH acquisition was a worthwhile move, absolutely necessary if anything for the longterm survival of 888. Unfortunate time to take on so much debt but good use of increased profits and strong position enabled by the 2020 lockdowns which would perhaps not be sustainable for their original business model moving forward.

I think TJ wants to buy it back for peanuts. Probably didn’t want to lose any control to Next hence the equity deal falling through. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s indirectly involved in the media leaks to bring the market cap down as low as possible.

This is ridiculous. A 40% price drop based on a Twitter rumour! It’s not even known that Next pulled out, that’s only the media narrative and not based on any RNS. Just as likely Joules were not happy with the terms Next were demanding. Tom Joules is minted and can easily bail out or buy up Joules if he wants.
