Sorry to disappoint Potty Time, but ENSCO 72 is still sat at Seaton Cares, that's the north bank of the Teesport mouth. The only change seems to be that for the first time it has switched on it's location transponder so you can now see it on vesselfinder or whichever one you use. I wouldn't put too much time into watching it though, a watched kettle and all.

Just to touch on my day job, if you don't need a combustion unit at all why go the plug in hybrid route, paying for a petrol/diesel engine and a very complicated and the therefore expensive gearbox when a pure electric will be simpler and cheaper. Plus most plug ins will not do 30 miles on electric when they get to 2 years old. You will tell that I'm not a hybrid fan, overhyped nonsense, for local work get a full electric for distance Euro 6 diesel, these will give you the cheapest motoring costs.

In the back of my mind I seem to remember the MQ advisory deal being time limited, six months in fact, however I have searched every RNS, statement, interview and opinion piece I can find and nowhere can I find confirmation. Am I hallucinating, or can anybody direct me towards the evidence. The RNS confirming their appointment was dated 23/05/18 and written in the past tense, so six months from there gets us to the next couple of weeks.

If you look at where the Brage Viking is currently riding stationary and where the safety vessel Glomar Alure the red mark about a mile away are located it's a reasonable guess that the rig is between the two. The rig does not send out a signal.

I think that that contract release date may be altering before long. After six days circling in the North Sea the Brage Viking's destination has changed from rondezvous with the rig to Great Yarmouth, although her current course seems to suggest Lowestoft which ever it looks like our rig is going nowhere until the current weather has passed. Fingers crossed it won't be too long.

If vesselfinder is correct I'm surprised that the crew of the Brage Viking aren't all dizzy by now. It's been slowly running around in circles in deep water off Norfolk for 4 days now.

The thing that I don't get is where will benzene, kerosene, bitumen, propane etc which the petrochemical, pharmaceutical industries and society in general come from if we stop fracturing crude oil because we don't need petrol or diesel anymore. It is not possible to crack crude into specific grades of oil product, if you want some, you get them all.

It seems to me that there is a lot of over simplicistic thinking going on regarding reducing reliance on oil.
