I think we can all see cash returns down the line, but further progress on the copper pipeline is probably needed first. I am confident that in five years AAZ will be paying massive dividends but they probably need to get at least one more of their copper mines online before the financial position to become clear enough to make the decision to restart dividends.

Don’t hold your breath. The Q3 Operating Results in 5 weeks, give or take, will likely come first.

On the other hand, the oil price has been steadily creeping up since the ceasefire low. The market is understandably cynical.

Not without further news or a significant leap in the gold price. Consolidation at this new higher level is more likely in the short term.

Nothing new as such but does appear to promise better communication.

B - given how significant a catalyst the TSF is, I’d like to think that from now on they will err on the side of letting us know about significant developments on that front.

Whatever news may or may not be coming in the short term, we’re seeing great relative strength right now.

Is it not possible that the company is considering the 18th March interims RNS as that update, meaning that no TSF update is, in fact, imminent?

I think you’re closer to the mark than folk who are saying that the situation is overblown. Country A may be producing X million barrels and Country B may be producing Y million barrels but there is also the question of what kinds of oil they are producing and what refineries are geared up for those kinds of oil. It is a very complex system that has been disrupted.

Good post. A vulnerable sector but ART does seem to have a business model that makes it somewhat less vulnerable than most.

Concrete TSF progress would certainly be a catalyst, but I’ll believe it when I see it - I think we’re going to have to be patient there.

I suppose the dream is for this to be one of those companies that 5 years down the line (if it has not been taken out at a price acceptable to the BoD) has repaid your original stake in dividends alone.

If the market was convinced that oil was going to be over $100 for the foreseeable future, fair enough. Too many variables right now though. Saying that, last year’s predictions for this year’s oil price are now looking pretty silly.
