Given current performance, I’m not holding my breath for any great hike in the sp, even if the results (when they do finally arrive) are stellar.

Silly overreaction to one cautionary note in an otherwise good set of results. But then, these days, it seems to be the norm for the UK market to behave like a moody teenager.

Hi denielh. I think you misread. I bought the dip last Monday. The Footsie had a wobble and the VOD sp was down 4%. Provided tomorrow’s results are decent, I’m hoping that, next Monday, we will be in the 120s.

The 0.5p divi is hardly going to create a buying frenzy among income investors. Decent set of results though.

Opened a position here buying the dip on Monday. With a circa 7% yield, it was a no brainer.

A 60% rise in market cap over the last 5 years is pretty good. I know very little about fashion, but I do know you are unlikely to see much growth from making clothes that last for 30 years.

Closed my position here (with a modest gain) several weeks ago during the last wobble from 110. Given the delay to the recovery, the Footsie will probably settle around 6800 over the next few weeks. RR will probably see 80p before it sees 110 again.

The market is adjusting for a delay in the recovery of a few months and the Footsie will probably settle around 6800 for a while. The recovery in international air travel will take longer. It is now pretty clear that IAG will require further borrowing, the prospect of which will probably be mentioned in the results on 30 July. I think we will be in the 140s within the next few weeks.

Given dilution and debt, it will also be well into the second half of the decade before IAG is paying a significant divi again.

You will probably be better off putting your money in the bank(s). At current share prices, the big 4 banks will yield 4pc or more based on their 2022 predicted payouts, with HSBC out in front on 6.2pc. For 2023, those yields rise to 6.7pc for HSBC and above 5pc for Lloyds and Barclays.

Excellent trading update. Some investors are still flapping about Gobbetti’s departure, but CEOs all have to go eventually, so this seems to be an overreaction. The company is clearly back on track and a few personnel changes are unlikely to affect that.

PPC is a speculative share and has been for the past few years, so anyone who expects the sp to perform in any conventional way is going to be disappointed. That said, if you can’t whinge in a share forum, then where can you? It is all part of the coping mechanism for some investors. I consider myself an optimist, but that does not mean I wear rose tinted specs. Having the occasional whine here can be a good way of letting off steam - certainly preferable to crashing the car or throwing things at the wall.

It will be the very long-term. Given the dilution and the debt, even if IAG return to good operating conditions in the next few years (and do not encounter any further major problems) we are probably looking toward the end of the decade before the return to a reasonable dividend. That is a long time to wait, even in investment timescales.

Enjoy the divi, as it may be one of the last at current levels. Closed my position here. I always had misgivings about investing in a company that operates mainly in Russia, which is not getting any more politically stable. I was won over by the divi though. Clearly I wasn’t the only one - and the Russian government now sees companies like Evraz as cash cows, to be milked for as long as the good times roll. There will still be a divi, but I doubt that it (or the market cap) will be sustainable near recent levels as Putin’s new taxes start to bite. Pity, but I also hold Rio and BHP, so I’m happy to walk away with my 50% profit here.

Ah, the mystical ‘dumper’ strikes again. I don’t believe there is one. I think there are plenty of swing traders though.

IAG will be one of the last beneficiaries from the relaxation of Covid measures. International travel will still be affected, long after the rest of the economy and society have returned to near normality. Pent-up demand for international travel will probably be tempered by continuing uncertainty and the extra hassle involved with flying. Meantime, the debt pile will continue to grow. There may be a few bounces up, but the sp seems headed for further drops. I certainly wouldn’t be surprised (indeed I expect) to see the sp dropping into the 140s over the next 2 years.

Unless PE want to make an absolutely stellar offer here, I’d rather they kept their hands off our 5% yield.

It would be good to see something break the swing trading cycle in which this share has been stuck for the past 2 years.

I said last week that there probably would not be any big change to the sp before the next IAG update. If the H1 results on 30 Jul are less than terrible, there might be a sp recovery. On the other hand, the hit to summer operations might give the market a fresh reality check regarding the bigger debt mountain IAG now has to climb.

Just the late accounts hiccup to get past now. Once that is out of the way, there is no reason why we cannot cross the elusive 3p hurdle.

Going to stick my neck out and say £12 by this time next year and perhaps double that in 5 years.
